just flashed to the 1102 bios and now my 980 is dead. Won't boot after flashing to it so I had to stick my 920 in. I'm rather pissed at the moment.

jerkovision ? mmm seems Nvspec is in a destructive mood lately, first his GTX460 and now this

Beta's are always a risk... but it's not always the beta that did it...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

yep and it wouldn't work either. I stuck a 920 in and it works just fine. 980x = dead. =o\ this was a good one too.

Did you clear CMOS before the flash? Seems like something went wrong when the settings were carried over to the new bios.

How did you guys solve the evaluation period issue with the RC Bluetooth (I know there is this patch on ASUS site, but it doesn't seem to work on my win7 x64)?

This failure could be related to microcode change on i7-980X.
If for any reason the microcode contained in the BIOS was corrupted (i.e flashing in overclock conditions) when loaded in the cpu it may cause a failure of it.

I suggest on R3E using the flashing procedure with an USB key plugged in ROG Connect.

You shouldn't need any patch if you installed the correct version for win7 x64. the bug is only in 32 bit versions.

Rampage III Extreme Bios Ver 0702 beta

Rampage III Extreme Bios Ver 0704 beta
    Notes
    1. Added additional memory options (tRFC settings) to improve overclocking
    2. Enable support for "Subzero Booster" for improved LN2 overclocking capabilities
    3. Enabled additional CPU support for CPU Level Up functionality
    4. Improved 3D performance at stock settings

Note - New microcode and the third party applications are not reading VCore correctly at this point, either use ProbeIt, ROG Connect, or a DMM for actual voltages. Asus are working with the third party vendors to correct this.

Note - Uncore setting will now scale with BCLK settings when set to Auto. Manual settings will be required when running BCLKs over 220 to ensure stability and improved BCLK rates.

Note - LN2 Modes might need to be adjusted to improve cold clocking capabilities. Auto = LN2 mode 2, setting to LN2 Mode 1 will result in potentially better overclocking below -140C. This is dependent upon CPU quality and cooling.

Rampage III Extreme Bios Ver 9124 beta
    Notes
    1. Added 2D SpeedBooster option for GulfTown owners
    2. Enable proper memory table reporting in 3rd party applications
    3. Improved 3D performance
    4. Tweaked LN2 Mode settings

Note - 2D SpeedBooster option is for non-3D applications like SuperPI, WPrime, and other programs that benefit from enabling CPUMicroCode ignore flags in the BIOS. Enabling this option will improve 2D application scores but will decrease 3D performance. Asus highly suggest disabling this feature for any 3D applications or benchmarking.

Note - This BIOS is still in Beta state and is released for those needing additional performance in 2D applications. Asus will have a final qualified version with improved memory and 3D performance shortly.

Just want to thank you all involved for the Asus Rampage III Extreme Owners Thread and the work behind it.

Please forgive an old man (me) but I cant see the chronological order of the beta BIOS in comparison with the official ones and that makes me little confused since I'm interested to try some out.

    Sincerely WOLF.

1005 is newest official, 1102 is newest beta.
1005 is newer than 0010, and is presumably based off 0010.
The only BIOS's that matter right now are 1005 and 1102, or 901 if neither 1005 or 1102 works for you.

And seriously, don't quote posts that are huge.

Well guys, the UD9 arrived today. I'll be testing it more tonight and tomorrow in comparison to my RIIIE.

It was open box and I can clearly see why (they provided me with two stickers on the bottom pointing to the problem areas). There are some damaged (exposed) traces. None of them seem to be fully broken, bu I'll definitely be checking all of the voltages with a DMM.

Anyway, here's a quick picture I snapped with my iPhone:

Excuse my noobness, but I've had this board only for two days now and I came across this strange behaviour: I set the multiplier to 21 in the BIOS which gives cpu speed of 2800 MHz with 133 MHz bus speed. When I boot into Windows and start CPU-Z it shows the same bus speed and multiplier as in the BIOS, but after a couple minutes these values go down to 12 for the multiplier and 1600 for the cpu speed. Can you help me and explain which BIOS parameters are responsicle for automatic downclockig of the cpu?
