I'm really happy with my high performance HX850, but it has 1 downside:
It's the loudest part of my PC. I don't want to part with it, though, as it's performance is stellar. So I have a question about the fan controller inside this PSU. How is it controlled? Is it based on load or on the internal temperature? The reason I'm asking, is because I might mod the PSU with a silent fan. (I know this will void warranty, but it's worth it for me) I would not like my PSU to overheat, so hopefully the fan is temperature controlled, because if it's load controlled instead, it might feed the fan too little volts to cool it properly at a giving load level.
Thanks for the info!![]()

Hopefully we'll get an answer soon

At what load level? Surely if you managed to run it fanless for several months, it would be fine with a slightly slower fan for atleast a year.
