Is there any thermal difference in different reservoir sizes?

Looking at the four EK options (100mm, 150mm, 250, and 400).

Not really. It may take some minutes longer for overall temps to reach equilibrium due to the increase in volume of water but I don't think it's significant enough to matter.

Nope, water will reach an equilibrium temp no matter which size res. You have to get a few extra hundreds of gallons of coolant before res size makes a difference.

Just pick what fits and looks best in your case.

It would make a difference if reservoir walls were conductive, and air around the reservoir would be cooler than the water inside (which is not happening in a closed watercooled PC case).

I got my EK Dual top, 2 DDC pumps.. and my 100mm EK Res came today... not sure what the heck I was thinking.. but that thing is tiny. .especially going in a MM Ascension case.. gonna get a bigger one.. maybe ill save that for my GPU loop

Well, think of it this way, if your going to get a bigger one, the smaller one will still look out of place.

You can link the different tubes to make one bigger reservoir (with intermediate sections on which you can plug fittings). EK sells a "link" element for that.

There is one advantage of having a bigger reservoir.
You don't need to top up as often.

Of course this would also depend on your operating temp.

Then again, if you're replacing your water every 3-6 months, there wouldn't be much coolant loss either way for it to matter.

Bigger res FTW! Just filled my loop which takes 1,5 litres of coolant with smallest EK tube res, real PITA.

with a smallers res you will have to fill up more often when bleeding but other than that there should be no difference
