$8 usb wifi adapter for those unreachable crunchers

thought of some of you guys when I saw this:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833124327

I bought one to replace a Netgear stick on one of my crunchers hiding in the furnace room that only has WEP, and two for future use.

Seems like the latest Linksys driver doesn't let you connect to any networks for some users, so the chipset manufacturer driver has been recommended: http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php
    The chipset driver is named "USB (RT2870 /RT2770 /RT307X /RT2070 /RT3572/3370/8070)"

does it run as a service, so the computer can be accessed remotely after a restart?

I don't know, but iirc I always could with my current wireless connection. I usually enable automatic login now though just for ease. That computer has winxp on it, pretty stripped down service-wise. I think it works if you have windows to automatically connect to your wireless network.
