Smile Camo mesh SS - many pics :)

I hope the person I'm building this for likes the mesh color.

The cooler is leak testing now. I'll vacuum tonight and add a gas blend tomorrow and then it's ice.

    Oh puke

Nice and clean build as always. What exactly does the coils on the hot side do? Sorry if my terminology is off.

It cools hot gas coming out of the compressor and acts as a damper of sort.

Gotcha. Figured the extra coils had something to do with extra length for cooling. Your brazing skills are sweet.

Sweet looking build Ron Excellent craftsmanship !

Been away a few years and didn't know you were into the custom
phase change business. I would assume these units can hold a load better, colder than the revamped 404 and 507 Prommies that we used years ago.

Great to see you're still up to your ears in the hobby

    Best regards,

    Randi

Look at you with the Scotch-Brite and copper
I'm sure he will enjoy it
I would have replied sooner but the compression explosion device in my motion traction system needed to be replenished with distillation fractionation of fossilisation extraction....

Ron that accumulator looks amazing. Do you use some sort of gloss or touch up coating and if you do can you send me a PM with some tips for applying it.

the discharge gas from the compressor is so extremely hot that just running it through coils like that in front of the fan lowers the temperature quite a bit... so the condenser has to do less work

Thanks teyber I figured it was for some cooling effect, but wasn't sure if the extra length is tubing was for something else all together. I know about this much for phase change, but they do intrigue me.

    No need for PM

I bought it at Home Depot. Just spray it on.

Have you made it back from Home Depot yet? If they don't have the paint there, check at ACE Hardware.

If you look closely you can see frost on the suction line close to the compressor
Unit is now tweaked for -35C at 305watts. I don't want to flood the compressor but at the same time, I want to keep the compressor temps down.
Ambient temperature makes a lot of difference with these units. A warmer benching room will definitely make for a warmer evap temp.
Keep you benching room cool for best results.

Thermostat gets set on 66-68f when I'm benching. That camo mesh is really growing on me too.

Good looks and performance! Those condensing units are a great basis to start from.

One question though, why not run the camo mesh all the way back to the compressor and make it even prettier?
