Nintendo unveils 3DS handheld with 3D camera

In today’s 3D craze, Nintendo has announced its own plans to release new hardware for the technology. Speaking at their E3 press conference, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata has displayed the developer’s first 3D handheld for the market.

Dubbed the “Nintendo 3DS,” the device will set the bar for 3D gaming, allowing players the ability to experience 3D effects without the need for any special glasses. It will feature a slider to adjust the technology by maximizing or removing the 3D content all together.

My first thought was, I wonder how long it'll be before AutoDesk jumps down their necks

Nintendo... Bleh, I'm not a fan of their cartoony graphics but they really are leading with innovation on the console side of things.

i just read my own sentence again and realized how easy it is to miss interpret what i mean by "playing with them"

at work we noticed it cause there was a video of MGS on the 3DS, and the camera wouldnt stop looking at her. then we realize she was wearing the same cloths as the girls from the stage. obviously they were tethered to the gaming consoles.

It is using PICA200 chip for gpu...

DMP boasts that the 200MHz chip can provide 15.3 million polygons a second, 800 million pixels a second, and can perform alpha blending, full-scene antialiasing, and other features that sound like they make nice graphics.

The chip also contains the company's proprietary 'MAESTRO' technology, which means that complicated shader hardware is built right into the chip. At SIGGRAPH Asia 2009, the company did a presentation on the chip and different levels of Open GL, showing that it supports Open GL ES 1.1 with DMP extensions. The chip is powerful enough to support maximum resolutions of 4095x4095!

wasnt very happy with the demo video. its such a small area being rendered, so i can expect higher details. and it said futuremark, so what the hell was that demo exactly?

wow it looks really cheap n cr4ppy... i had expected a lot more :/
and the screen is still tiny... and itll end up costing as much as a psp or even more, pff....
this 3d screen better works well, and the games better be good, otherwise this will flop... at least outside of japan...

I was expecting they would go with a new chassis, but no! Same old DS-style plastic enclosure.

All systems sold. Will be back after Sandy Bridge!

do your really think is cheap and cr4ppy without even touching it, everyone that assisted the E3 said it was awesome.

and it wont be a flop no matter how much its costs if you take into account current DS sales you will notice that...

i think the DS is nice i dont own one, but i can assure i will buy the 3DS
