In theory should a 470 clock better than a 480 because of the disabled TMUs and CUDA cores or will the VREGs hold it back too much?
    Regards,
    Chris

Second scenario ...Vregs holding back a little ... my 470 is almost stable 850/2080@1.087V...and seen 480 with lower Volts and higher clocks
Not to compare the cooling of them both...overvolted 470 is overheating easily, while 480 can hold it.

    I'm curious too..
Tho flashed mine Palit with EVGA SC BIOS working like a charm, so far memory is overclocking 20-30mhz more, maybe more relaxed timings....
    Here's 2100 mem

Just need more CoreVoltage via AB ,when recognized as 480
    Don't need 480 Shaders
So close to 100k single Air cooled GPU + CPU
    3D03

Something wrong with my Nature IMHO...need more LOD )

Alright for what i read and i'm trying to find the article from where i read that !

when they did the core for the gf100 they had lots of issue and still have so most core that are disabled are not working anyway they took the best core to make the 480 with 480core and they salvage the rest to do the 470 with 448 core. If you are lucky you could get a 480 with all core functioning, but yet it is disabled.

That is not a confirmation or a fact nothing concrete on the subject except the article i'm trying to find again. i'll post as soon as i can.

    Voltage? Cooling ?

Your score is very low...sould be near 30k.
    I've got 28.5 with GTX470@860/1980 and i920@4.4G...
Not to speak you've got 50% more L3 cache on your CPU....
    8k SM3 is score for a well clocked 8800...but not 1ghz GTX470

But but... his chip can do 1000Mhz!! who cares if it can actually run anything when you can achieve that speed on water??

I can imagine how badly the 3DMark run will be plagued by artifacts.. probably why the score is so low.. like when you have negative performance scaling when you clock the mem too high on 58XX.

Guys, Does it make a difference which brand GTX480 I use on evga x58 classified?

I am planning to watercool and overclock it.

Also, the price for PNY, EVGA and ASUS is 585, 565 and 505 euros respectively. Pny offers 5 movies downloads which I am not interested.

    Whats your advice?

these cards will run the bench at unstable clocks but give you a crap score.

Mine doesnt like cold and is dieing for voltage. anything over -60 it craps out

2nd card was having a stuttering issue even at stock and is being RMA'd atm hopefully it clocks better.
