Personally I would go with 2 cards right now 3-way sli doesn't scale that well unless your benchmarking. 2-way will run great for any modern day game. Plus you can spend your extra money on a beefy psu and add another card later. Who knows maybe by the time games out grow your rig the next gen of cards will be out. What are you intentions with this rig? Crunching? Folding? Benchmarking? Gaming? Also cpu setup?

just think...you wont need to heat your room in the winter time with that much wattage being burned by your computer thats as much as most electric space heaters!

btw silverstone TJ-07 or almost any mountain mods case would both be perfect for a twin power supply setup with enough room for 3 to 4 large cards plus liquid cooling all internal.

dare I ask what game needs 3 GTX 480's?

my triple 8800GTX's run battlefield bad company 2 @ 1920x1080@60hz 16xQ AA supersampling, 16x AF, vsync, with everything on highest settings and smooth as silk frame rates. (haven't checked actual FPS but it looks like 60+fps it does not stutter at all)

1920х1080 is so last century Seriously though, most people are buying multiple 5870s or 480s for multi-monitor gaming with vast resolutions which might exceed yours by the factor of 3-6 times (imagine triple 30" gaming )
Also, did you see how much power 2033 sucks up in DX11 mode? even on a single 30", you may need triple 480s to turn all the eye candy to the max.
    Sig is under construction

what do u mean "used" what do u have now ? and why

i flooded the liquid cooling section with questions

too bad it turns out coolant/dyes has a problem under heat because the dye separates and creates a disaster for the blocks
+ tubes that are UV reactive arnt that powerful

    this is a far dream

    lol yeah yeah.

I'm using a 40" LCD HDTV as a monitor so 1920x1080 is the highest resolution it supports. Works for me though and with only $300 invested in vid cards I'm not complaining.

it a bit hard finding a hdtv that works with a pc via vga on 1080p ur lucky unless ur using a hdmi and that also sucks because u need to attach that wire to the motherboard etc

I ordered 2 Strider 1000-P PSU's for my build. I have a Mountain Mods Case so plenty of room for the PSU's and three 360 rads.
Just waiting on eVGA to release the FTW cards for multiple qty. Only let me pre-order 1 card, so I might have to just buy the SC version and thro EK WB's on them to get a 4 way sli
