You could just ask the seller which type of case it is as you are interested to know if it would fit into your rack :P :P

Have to agree with the layout... That's killer for me... Don't really want to buy another case

I kinda would need / want something a bit more standard...

wait... its got non standard power aswell.... So this requires a special psu or modding... Has anyone confirmed to get this to work? hmm.... I am not so sure anymore... I don't want 4 boards I can't do squat with..

    Been there done that.

I've actually had my i7 rig on a cartboard box at atleast 2 lans. Mobo was on a box, hdds in lianlis hdd rack and watercooling next to mobos box. Good thing i could take my wc loop off as a one part.

If the board will indeed work without days of setting it up, I'm in for sure. I don't really care about a case, I'll just run it on a bench or fab something quick.

What're the option for heat sinks? Anyone research this yet?

I'd need two more Danger Den TDXs if I wanted to water cool it

Actually, that may be the cheapest option for me. I have a single rad and 2 DD TDX blocks with universal mounts.. TDX unis are dirt cheap these days. I'd need a backplate for the board, though...

Every and each of us can get a case, RAM, CPU and even the MB for a few $ more. A bunch of nerds should go bulk on hiring somebody to modify the BIOS.
A custom BIOS for OCing all 4 CPU on a Quad-socket MB is more attractive, and may convince more people to go bulk. I don't know how good these CPUs will OC, but it can be worth investigating the possibilities.

    ASUS P8P67 Deluxe (BIOS 1305)
    2600K @4.5GHz 1.27v , 1 hour Prime
    Silver Arrow , push/pull
    2x2GB Crucial 1066MHz CL7 ECC @1600MHz CL9 1.51v
    GTX560 GB OC @910/2400 0.987v

CM Storm Scout + Corsair HX 1000W

    EVGA SR-2 , A50
    2 x Xeon X5650 @3.86GHz(203x19) 1.20v
    Megahalem + Silver Arrow , push/pull
    3x2GB Corsair XMS3 1600 CL7 + 3x4GB G.SKILL Trident 1600 CL7 = 18GB @1624 7-8-7-20 1.65v

Sam, won't work. It's not only bios that makes boards OCable, it's also the HW, and in server world it's usually the hw which keeps us OCing em.

You are right about the past. But as you see in this thread, these double/quad-socket MB is not only for conservative sever-guys, any longer. Many OCers are looking at these MB too, and that's why EVGA has started working on RS2.

I believe it is possible to convince a AMD MB-makers to make a OC-able double/quad-socket MB. Specially if several nerds go bulk on pushing (and rubbing) it. Maybe some smart MB-makers will go for making both the MB and BIOS.

Some came with backplates. Have to ask about ours

EDIT: you would still need 2 more wblocks and that would add some $$ . where do you get them? cheapest I've seen them are around 35 bucks IIRC

    @skycrane: thanks mate!

    • artemmx x 2 ( Canada shipping )
    • Bail_w x 1 ( 65 bucks max) .. up top now that price is not possible ( bigger quantity might make it doable)
    • OldChap x 1 ( UK shipping )
    • me x 2 ( will order on the last part of may, hopefully with some of you guys)
    • Jaws x 1 ( IICR budget was 70 bucks which is same case as Bail_w : not doable for the time being)
    • Fhqwhgads6680 x 4 ( wanted em to fit into rack cases which can be done but not with regular ones as the board is 16 x 13 ")
    • a friend of mine x 1 ( lost interest when I told him he should do some wiring)
