Wooooot I got some LN2 - ASUS Maximus III Extreme again -.- (Gulfi 6+ btw also)

    Hi together,

my friends from BenchBrothers made it possible for me to play with some LN2 for 2 days. Sorry if I keep it short, will write more the other day but I have 2 days of benching and 600km driving behind me (for a new dewar which I picked up yesterday before visiting Cottbus).

Some things I do know now:
    1. My Gulfi can do 6 GHZ with reasonable voltage and temps (~-120°C)
    2. My RIIE has some kinda bug at -130°C and let's me wait really long after sending it to coldbug.
    3. I need RIIIE badly - ROG connect FTW!
    4. MIIIE and RoG-Connect just rocks - never want to miss that again in the future
    5. Benching 1156 is fun for moar - just 'cuz moar Wanted to crack that 6.500s so badly and I did after 3 hours of work

6 GHZ pifast on Gulfi quickly - needs more temp and maybe other things to pass 6 GHZ wall...wouldn't run much higher whatever I tried. Had 5950 running 32m for quite some time until I freezed it into mb-cb (I call it so for the moment) another time. Eff sucked REALLY don't tell me pls

quick AM3 with card under air and no special bios - wanted to get 400k with a "solution" like that but failed - had 396k btw but freezed while screening (you know for sure...)

The BenchBrothers filled the rest of LN2 in my new dewar - next beer goes on me So today I decided NOT to test Gulftown but to have some fun with 670 ES + Asus Maximus III Extreme as I just love 1m and the hardware itself (after Cebit ). Main goal was to nail down that fermidable 6.5s which I wasn't able to crack during Cebit 2010 on stage.

    1m 6560 MHZ 6.485s Win 2003 Server

Took me quite some times, almost fried the board (during CBB it froze, then it warmed up again - you know what that means ) but another run with another pot also gave me #10 2x CPU on hwbot in wprime32m (I hold the only german flag in TOP20 - think germans are not good in wprime32m haha)

To make sure I really spend the last drop of LN2 usefull I went for CPUz - short before 6.7 GHZ I ran out of LN2 and the 671X validation corrupted :p It's ok but not the best chip around - I had a lot fun last 2 days, that's what matters

    regards SoF

PS: Now waiting for miahallen to show me a new 1m

You won't guess how many times I said to myself: KEEP PUSHING IT, specially after seeing screens like that "easy" Deciding for 670 ES today wasn't that easy but in the end I think I choose the right hardware to have fun with not so much LN2 left

And here is the point where you know "you clocked too much"

Wish you good luck with your retail! Yeah that ROG connect is very helpfull I just didn't liked the fact, that the bios remembers everything what you set in it. So when I freezed the system I ended up clearing CMOS, loading bios profile and then rebooting every time (that way it was also easier to boot after CB because stock voltage boots a bit earlier )

I always thought there must be a way to disable that but under ROG Connect Option there is only enable or disable. I will check later where that option is - need to change my bios profiles then Thanks for the hint

    Nice job, man!
Glad to see you are working on various platforms. Moar megahurts all around the hwbot!
Is ROG Connect so much better than EVBot then? I see so many benchers with RIIIE these days...

I am not sure if it is better but as it comes with all their new extreme boards and works like charm with a laptop I think people get used to it much faster than with evbot. also iirc you need to buy evbot additionally (what isn't that easy e.g. in germany) with ROG connect you can use just any system flying around your benchroom and start the fun

Here are some pictures as promised

Everything prepared - one just need so much space for LN2 benching :p

    Setup freezed

Just when reaching that temp and doing my 1m I had a looong cbb and freezed the board

There have been rumors of "black edition" Clarkdales...but nothing confirmed yet AFAIK.

    evbot = remote control
rog connect = use your laptop/netbook/pc to monitor and adjust voltages and speeds on the bench rig in real time via a usb cable and software tool

its obviously much easier and faster to adjust settings using a mouse, keyboard and a big screen vs a small remote control with dip switches and jumpers. i wanted to something like rog connect at foxconn a while ago but they said it couldnt be done, heh...
i really like asus for proving them wrong and bringing tweaking to the next level...

    very nice results sof!
insane vcore... 2v on 32nm... weeeeee and i thought mia was crazy pushing 1.9 through his goofy

    Hey,
having it all on the screen and tracking voltages correctly remotely is the best solution you can have. the big screen and mouse control is very good to handle while refilling LN2, keeping track of the system etc. when I had issues after the ice melting to water again I saw a very unusual spike in the diagramm and I immediatly knew it's time to shut down. That maybe saved me the board at that point. After 1 hour I was ready to go again without any issues
