I think it only requires a metal surface of 69-72C to begin to cook, so Im sure that thing would rise to 100C quick without the fan turning.

yes someone could cook one on the other side of the card.. it would also help for the foil to have more contact with the card, i imagine it wasnt flat against it so only certain parts of the foil are directly touching the heat

So stupid where's the video on 5870 CF which sports 86'C temps? Any serious person right now will be water cooling two 480s. I'm scared of water cooling and have never done it, yet I'll be going for a GPU loop so cards will be 50-55'C full load. Fry an egg on that!

Just doing thermal testing on my 295 hit 100C with fan @ 100%, running on bench. Once it hit 100C it started throttling, heatsink temp hit 80C using a thermal probe. They probably could have cooked an egg on that. When I get the 480 I'll test it running furmark. How does everyone like their eggs?

does anyone know the name of that tech demo he was using to bench it? 'Heaven' or something like that? Or where to download it? I need to put my 285 to work...besides crysis it doesnt really get used much to its potential

PS- he should have just used the egg as a heatsink. Put that sucker right on the GPU chip, haha
