I am sorry but this is completely pointless and ruins the spirit of the elise. There will not be anywhere near enough traction to make use of that power. Spin tires all the way up to 4th gear anyone? Just dumb. It won't even be fast on the track with anyone but a professional driver behind the seat. A few mm too much throttle and you are off the track. Oh and 600k? It is not worth anywhere near this.

I think this is a case where you are paying for sheer awesome. Yes, you can no longer go through the twistys with the grace that the normal Elise and Exige exemplify but you can break necks with acceleration from 100mph to 200mph. This is one of those "look what monster I have" type of cars, not something practical. Just look at all the insanely turbocharged cars we see that aren't practical.. 1000whp Skylines and Supras come to mind. I'd just have fun rolling up to stoplights w/ an Elise emitting a v8 grumble and supercharger whine. I hope that car has some insanely tall gearing to help counter the guaranteed wheel spin.
Awesome find
I'd say this is more like the Lotus GT1 than the elise. With proper tires and power delivery and aero downforce I can see it working quite well.
I mean the Mosler MT900 can be optioned to have over 600HP and it weighs about as much as an elise and it handles just fine.

Would be more interested in the American modded cars, but damn the price :O.
I'm in the market for a 400-550 rwhp 98-02 Camaro/Firebird or 97-05 Corvette, some of those guys are selling 408ci engine + turbo/procharged ones with 700hp+ for well under 20k, much less than all the aftermarket parts in them cost alone, guess the economy has got to them.
lol, there is one for 35k with 1500hp, does 7.8s 1/4 mile.

The original chasis is built by lotus, it then gets shiped to the US, where it gets streched & reworked. The car should handle very well indeed. Although to be honest with the amount of work they put in the car, It should be partial space frame + composite pans and built from scratch instead modifying that particular frame.
In any case, the ls9 can pack some punch, however it wont have a supercharger whine unless its being romped on.

I never bother drooling over cars like this... There are plenty of fast cars normal people can afford. You don't need to spend half a million or more to get one. Stupid...
I see cars like this like displays at a museum. They're more to look at than to actually drive your self.... kinda looses its purpose? Personally I don't see a car as a car unless a normal man could ever hope to enjoy it.
This cosmic dance of bursting decadence and withheld permissions, twists all our arms collectively, but if sweetness can win, and it can, then I'll still be here tomorrow to high-five you yesterday, my friend. Peace.
what a joke they killed the elise.. it's mean to be a cheap and fun car little pocket rocket which is good on fuel too as it normaly has a small 2 litre engine in...
this is just stupid lol. no traction or anything

Just buy/build an Ultima, 990kg and then whatever power you can pull out of its V8.
Holds the record for quiet a few aceleration times as well, plus an unoffical top time round the TG test track.
from wiki
Recently Ultima have focused their marketing efforts on record-breaking activities using a model equipped with a 640 bhp (477 kW) American Speed engine, which is called the Ultima GTR640, and subsequently, a 720 bhp (537 kW) engine which is called the GTR720. As a result, they have established the following official, independently verified records[3] for a production car equipped with road tires and exhaust:
* Fastest 0-60 mph (97 km/h) time: 2.6 seconds[3]
* Fastest 0-100 mph (160 km/h) time: 5.3 seconds[3]
* Fastest 30 mph (48 km/h)-70 mph (110 km/h) time: 1.8 seconds[3]
* Fastest 100 mph (160 km/h)- 0 mph time: 3.6 seconds[3]
* Fastest 0-100 mph (160 km/h)- 0 mph time: 9.4 seconds[3]
* Best performance on a skidpad: 1.176g lateral grip in a 200 ft (60 m) circle.
* Fastest road car over the 1/4 mile: 9.9 seconds @ 143 mph (230 km/h)
Due to its curb weight of 990 kg (2,183 lb)[4], the power-to-weight ratio for the GTR720 is 727 hp (542 kW) per tonne, which is a better ratio than the Bugatti Veyron, Enzo Ferrari, Ascari A10, Koenigsegg CCX or CCGT (but less than the Koenigsegg CCXR), it's also lesser to the Caparo T1. However, the Ultima chassis is rated for engines up to 1,000 bhp (700 kW) and some of Ultima's customers have fitted engines producing 1,000 bhp (700 kW) or more[5], for a power-to-weight ratio of over 1,000 hp (746 kW) per tonne, which is approximately twice the power to weight ratio of the aforementioned cars and nearly the same as the Caparo T1's (1170 hp/tonne, but this is a "dry" tonnage and the hp/tonne would be reduced once oil, coolant, gasoline, etc. are added, compared to the Ultima figures above which are "wet" weights).
The GTR720 has been independently timed lapping the Top Gear test track in 1 minute 12.8 seconds, beating all the cars listed on the Top Gear television programme's Power Board by over 4 seconds.[6][7] In October 2009 Ultima set another time of 1 minute 9.9 seconds, but this time in a configuration not suitable for use on public highways. Ultima have been keen to point out that this time is faster than those set by both the Ferrari FXX and the Caparo T1; of which neither were deemed to be acceptable road cars by the Top Gear presenters shortly after these times were set.
Hennessey is a crook. Go ask about him on any viper forum....
He also charges ridiculous amounts of money for simple exhaust installs and tuning, and makes it sound like something huge.
You can buy a LS3 crate engine or $7k, put $1,000 in it for some forged rods and pistons, and you can top it off with a set of brand new Garrett ball bearing turbos capable of supporting 1300HP for an additional $3000.
What does Hennessey do? He puts an LS9 in it. an LS9 is the same thing as a LS3 except it has titanium rods and the supercharger. The LS9 crate engine costs $25,000 alone from GM and with his 1200HP setup, the supercharger is stripped off and replaced with a set of turbos. Those factory titanium rods also wont hold upto 1200HP, so they'll need to be replaced anyways. You could do the exact same thing with an LS3 for 1/3rd of the cost.
Hennessey just loves to waste his customers money
