    Gulftown with Ubuntu

Anyone running it? I am using 9.10 Ubuntu 64, only 11 cores are loading 100% for some reason, how would I get it to load all of them? I know there is a command to set cpu performance but I cant remember what it is...

Advanced > Preferences > Processor (in the BOINC client)

You can set the number and % of processors used in there.

That is set to 100%, for some reason it keeps dropping one or two cores though. The is a sudo code that checks and sets the cpu I saw somewhere but cant remember...

No its only 4.2Ghz, I found the problem. It needed just a tad more voltage, guess WCG strains it a little more than lin x or prime 95...

JMHO but stay at 1.4v or less and 1.325v or less on the VTT

There's the trick ... I turn off thermal throttling in the BIOS on my systems coz (at least on my archaic stuff) it always cuts in when things are running just fine, but at 100%. The opterons (170 and 185) have been the worst for it.

Hmmm...try using the CPU Affinity feature if there is one in Ubuntu.

Or just Google the problem, it might be widespread.

The solution? MOAR VCORE! What problem can't be solved by voltage? I can't think of one.

No it didnt fix it, went from 1.35 which passes all prime 95, linx benches in windows to 1.4 and same thing. All thermal crap is off and max temps 65c. It will start out with all cores working on fresh boot then loose up to 4 of them over time, I selected no new task, when finished I am going to go back to windows 7 64 bit...

    What ever 9.10 comes with?

Installed 9.04 64 bit, its seems to be better but still not loading all 100%, took a short video...

While I don't have the Linux tech-insight, I suggest you try higher memory + uncore clocks and check if it changes anything.
Sometimes a good slap in the face is all you need

    Bios my arss.....
I can fix this problem with a hardware mod....

Is the kernel throttling one core? This may help:

    sudo apt-get install cpufrequtils
    sudo cpufreq-set -c [CORE] -g performance

    Where [CORE] is a number from 0 - 11.
