    Oc issue!!!

Hey folks. Im new here at XS, but have been loocking a little around. Sweet site

    But to my problem:

Ive been Oc my 965 c3. Im at 4.0Ghz stable @ 1.55v, 20x200 (tested small sprime for 12 hours). But as soon as i try to do prime blend i fail pretty fast. I had this problem with my c2 also. I can do 3.8 stable in blend(also the c2).
Everything else on stock, exept ram. 1600 down to 1333mhz.ddr3

I thought that it could be my ram so i bought a pair of new gskill just to test and still get the same problem

Ive had since the begining a bad feeling for my mobo(asus m4a79t deluxe). No clue why, but i thought id mention it.

Could it be a IMC problem?

Ive tried to up Nb frq but no luck at anything.

If anybody could enlighten me with some good tips or help it would be very much appritiated.

By the way im on wc. custum loop. Idle 28 load 46.

    Thnx in advance

Like said above, you might need to bumb the CPU-NB voltage to 1.3v effective.

Yes and what's your NB at? With C3 for 4GHz you don't need 1.55v.

As i wrote above im stock on everything (not ram)
    Ram:1600@1333 1.6v 7-7-7-24 (gskillripjaws)
    Cpu:3.4Ghz @ 4Ghz 1.55v (965 c3)
    NB:2000Mhz 1.2v
    Ht:2000Mhz 1.2v

My cpu needs 1.55 to get stable small prime. Maybe not the best chip

    Anyone???

I'd make sure your IMC/CPU-NB and RAM are 100% stable. Prime blend failing are usually related to those two (as it handles small ftt's just fine). Probably the RAM thats acting up. Those ripjaws never seem to run perfectly on AMD..

    Hi wes.

I had the same problems on my corsair gt dominator ram. So i dont think its the ram itself. And im having a hard time thinking its the imc since i had the same problem with my c2..

But how can i check for imc/cpu-nb stability? Cpu stock and start raising the Nb freq and voltages .Test with prime blend???

    Thnx again

As everyone told you... you need to bump the CPU-NB voltage.

My X4 940BE needed 1.275v (up from 1.175v) on the CPU-NB to go up to 3.7Ghz, no matter what voltage I gave to the CPU itself, it couldn't hit 3.7Ghz with stock NB volts.

Give it 1.3V, even if it's at stock speed, and maybe you could hit 4.0Ghz without 1.55V on the CPU. It should hit 4.0Ghz anything between 1.45~1.50v, maybe 1.52v if it's really bad... but a C3 with 1.55v is very rare.

Yea, everything at stock, and increase imc voltage. I'd also try a bump on RAM voltage after that.

However, if you had the same issues with another CPU, and same result with other RAM, then it sort of points towards motherboard/PSU issues...?

Edit: I had the ddr2 version of your board, and the vdrop during CPU load was insane. Wouldn't be surprised if the ddr3 version suffers from it as well. Never really liked the board myself for 24/7 oc.

Hey again. So ive tried to up the cpu/nb volt and no luck. I even tried 1.4v. Are there any spots between the cpu and the ram that can be the problem? NB or so?
I also tried up both nbfreq and volts. no luck. I have to go down to 3.8 Ghz cpu before i can run prime blend

    Advice? Rma the mobo?

I dont think you can RMA a mobo because you cant get 4ghz prime stable......will it prime blend at stock?? If not then yes rma the mobo if it does prime blend at stock then what can you do?? did you try a bios update? maybe a different bios will be more stable?
