Question: Taking Storm2 9550 abroad

I will be going to Southeast Asia for one month in May. I will be taking my Storm2 9550 (Verizon Wirelss). I want to be able to receive my emails/calls while I am abroad. Do you guys suggest I unlock my phone so that I can use a different SIM card? After I return to the states can I just pop in the SIM card that I used while I was in the states or is there something else I need to do?

Thanks for the link. But after I return to the states what is the process for me to use my phone in the states? Do I just swap out the international SIM card and then put in the one I used while in the states?

yea, the phone will work with any sim. i was in Brussels 3 weeks ago and had my 9700 which was locked to rogers, but i was using a vodaphone sim. it will work just as long as the freq band the carrier in the county ur going to uses one supported by your phone...which ur phone does.

So basically even if I have another sim card in my phone (for the specific country) I am still able to receive emails/calls/texts?

when u get that sim, it will come with its own number; not ur current one. Depending on the plan provided (pay as ugo,data) that u get from the sim you might be able to get emails and txts (BBM) through their data network. so the only way to get emails/txts and calls is keep the Verizon sim and pay the charges.

id say check out the cell phone providers in the country desired and see if data is available on pay as you go plans.

if you call vzw or go to a store they can unlock your phone to use internationally
