long threaded rods for hold down. where to buy?

    Hi everyone
I need to get some new threaded rods for the hold down on my container.
Do you know if you can get them online or lowe's home depot etc? I found these ones; http://www.nothingbuthardware.com/751582.html

...also how are most of you cranking them down? I usually wear gloves and crank them by hand but it takes so long and by the time im done i'm too tired to bench lol. I wonder if there is a universal bit that is has a hollow straw-like shaft so the ends of the rod wont jam at the drill bit opening and adapts to disk style wing nuts or something that can be cranked with a nice cordless drill?

I would start by cutting down the threaded shaft to the point where they are about 1-2 cm above your springs, before they are tightened down of course. Also shorter and stiffer springs would help quite a bit to minimize the amount of travel the nuts would have to go down.

I would recommend the stainless steel rods as they tend to bend less and hold up better over time. If you are in a pinch you can go to home depot and lowes and buy a three foot length and cut to size with a hack saw then sand the edges down.

Hey guys. I emailed them about the size. I told them 6.5in long (this is the length though the board and backplate and the hold down and a little extra for the springs.
1/8 in diameter and stainless steel so they dont rust.. is this the right diameter for typical rods? what size should I specify?
