    Dieelectric Grease on MB.

Someone is looking to trade me a Foxconn blood rage motherboard, it was used for phase change. They said it has dieelectric grease on it, or something...

Does this make it impossible to run a standard cooler on it, now? Is there anyway to remove this grease? He's saying it's thin enough on the back, to fit a back plate.

    Thanks in advance.

Okay, how do I apply it? Any particular instructions? Just cloth and blot or?

    no cloth...

Its an aerosol can and it will dissolve and wash away the grease. You might want to wipe everything off afterward but you don't have to. The QD stands for Quick Drying and it dries in like 20 seconds...

Its really kind of cool to watch it because it just dissolves the grease away as you spray it. It usually takes me a whole can to clean out the socket and the PCB coolers ect...

You don't need to remove the d.grease to use it mate, if anything the d. grease will make you socket last longer. I would just use it as it is (air cooling, wc etc).

Hey it was one of those self survice car wash places. Start off with the suds and then hit the rinse. I didnt think of using the hot wax button LOL

Is submerging the MB in Isopropyl Alcohol another way to clean it?

I've heard of people doing this with video cards.

Always ready to clean socket and pins after extended use/benching with cold

Paint thinner works good as well. Evaporators off with assitance of an air gun.

But you can use standard coolers with grease in the socket anyway. No need to remove it.

Just use contact cleaner and saturated qtips. If the qtip is dry it will get fibers on the socket pins so avoid that. Also, if you find some pins have oxidation (green or black colored) use some CLR. It won't harm the board and works great. Finally, hit it with some rubbing alcohol. I use an air compressor to blast the gunk off the socket after cold benching.
