Zotac and Palit 240 starting $70

Newegg has Palit and Zotac 240s starting at $69.99 and $74.99 w/free shipping. The GDDR5 are now $80 w/free shipping. These prices are getting tempting. SKGiven in GPUGrid forums has said the GDDR5 are a little faster.

Anyone have any experience with either manufacture?

with the trend toward bigger wu's mooted My thought is that the minimum just now is around the shaders/speed of my gx2's which complete in around 11.25 hours @1836 shaders...Why? because it will just about do 2 wu's in 24 hours and therefore gets the full bonus.

BUT at a cost cos these mutha's are thirsty bearing in mind they use probably more power than the 260-216-55 which will turn out twice the output of one gx2 side

Me? I would save till I had enough for a 260 as even though they ( the 240's) may be newer/cheaper to run than half a gx2 unless they can keep up too and are using what??? 50watts??? and you have lots of spare slots you will be pushing your luck.

F@h on the other hand, if you have the slots, is another matter

Newegg has 1 listing for a GTX260-216 that is in stock. One. I am really disappointed that they have let the stock dry up and prices never went down.

I just have my doubts about getting a 470 anytime soon. Everyone seems to think they will be limited availability and that means high prices like what happened with the 5850 ati 5870.

I have a 790FX mb with 4 slots. Just thinking about the possibilities.
