so if it is 20% faster, and supports physx, a 20% higher price is bad? and we see it doing great on dx11 games, so future games will be even better, not sure why theres so much negativity. if anything people should be mad that AMD isnt reducing prices since they have alot more flexibility too than nvidia does. and how much is the 5870 six with 2GB gonna cost? as much as a 480 but 15% slower? no thanks.

i think nvidia is doing good, the delays were TSMC screwing with everyone, and their prices are a good response to competition, and performance is clearly going to be getting better as dx11 evolves into the standard.

What's the point of benching with 10.2 and phy on? They got my thx to "overkill" tech review over GF100 but with shoddy comparing I got messed a bit. Awaiting some fair view.

    Ohh.. that's my first post.-)

I don't understand, cards have had separate 2D clocks for as long as I care to remember. Right now my GTX260 clocks down from 576/1424/1015 to 300/600/100

    Hey all, first post

If you think of it, I don't think that using physX is all that unfair. The card has it, why not use it.

Overall, based on that only available review, GTX480 is not impresive when compared to 5870. Six months of work should have brought something significant, which it has not. The card might be faster, but is is also half generation in front of 5870. With all that crap around nVidia and its policies, restrictions and PR stunts, GTX480 just does not taste well to me.

Anyway, I would like to say how much I enjoy reading this forum, great day to everyone

the JUST released the whql version of 10.3, what's the point of using unofficial drivers for a comparison?

Any benchmarks on GPGPU capability? How many Gflops in DP? Tesla 20 Series provides 520GFlops - 630 GFlops with single GPU. How about a GTX 480?

not much of a clock reduction considering my 5850 down clocks to 157/300 from 725/1000 at stock.

I was hoping Fermi would have the same power saving feature where it severely down clocks during 2d, but I guess not.

its how they reviewed it. should have done a FPS for ati/nvidia and then add in a bar for nvidia with physx on. cause ati users dont care about the FPS with it on, but they would care how it does against nvidia. and nvidia users would care about what kind of FPS drop can be expected if they turn physx on.

    btw welcome.

As the review proves, buying a card without Physx? That's not a graphics card.. That's an imitation and a half-arsed attempt.

If you consider nearly 130w of extra power used, 6 months of waiting, and still not taking the performance crown a win then sure

Well he meant the ATI Cards are over 6 months old... and that we do not know YET if the GTX 480 is the reigning champion. We will know that one when popular and credible sites release their findings. 5 hours to go!

wow, 77 pages of crap, and we still know very little about the damn card.

@ the reviewers, forget all this gaming, and demo crap, because we can never tell if your fudging your numbers or not
    .
and try some real apps. like MW@home, Collatz, GPUgrid, folding, RC5-72, and a few others so we really know the difference in the cards. and oh how about this?? USE the latest Friking drivers ???? how about that.
Its not overkill if it works.

It looks like it has got the crown, even if it limped over the finishing line. DX11 tesselation stuff looks like a big win for Nvidia.

On the down side, it needs it's own powerstation and the review looked like the reviewer wanted nvidia to do well.

Still, as you say let's hope for a more balanced view leaked soon
