Totally agree, does anyone remember what happened after the 5 series got released? Parts were cheap, parts vanished, prices skyrocketed.

Fermi for 500$ release day, Fermi stock dries up, Fermi price jumps to 1000$ tomorrow. Then prices are "retailers fault" when supply is dry. Who's fault?

Even if that article by Theo is true, it looks like it probably means that nv has been stock piling launch allocation and as soon as that limited volume runs dry, the waiting will begin.... and not end for quite some time.

So if you want one you should probably order while you can, or you'll risk going without.
Of course just like a 2010 Mustang GT500 when I was shopping for a new car 5 months ago and elected on a 09 Z06 because the GT500 was not only sold out before it hit the lot but it was not expected to see any for a while. Let me add also that dealers were getting over MSRP for them, and some of the people that reserved them sold them for 10-20k over what they paid. This happening in a down economy with horrible new car sales...

Anything that has a large supply and demand (PS3 release? Wii Release?) is going to sell out quick and if you really want it you better jump on it. This isn't news this is just the standard.

Great. So then you agree. But really it doesn't matter what the performance is like, because there are enough nv faithful that will buy a turd with an nv sticker on it.

    [edit]

Anyway, the reports are that availability will be very low. Watch nv play it like availability is high, but demand was so high the stock all dried up!

Sounds like you have a dilemna on your hands... Buy now with the assumption that it performs up to your expectations, get a card, or don't buy now and wait to see if performs up to your expectations and risk not getting one!

Do you really expect anyone to come with a review before Nvidia announces GeForce Fermi specifications?
This is on Friday 3/26 from 6 PM to 7 PM at Pax East 2010, Boston, MA.
So check the time in your country.

I'll do a Vantage Extreme run when I get home and see what I get since the review is probably with older (worse) drivers

Fermi threads are the lulz. I think every forum on the internet should have one permanently stickied.
Murray Walker: "And there are flames coming from the back of Prost's McLaren as he enters the Swimming Pool."

James Hunt: "Well, that should put them out then."

Nope I thought so too and was looking for it. Guru3D had a countdown timer that was javascript and was different for everyone because of time zones. The reports from people indicate 11PM GMT which would make sense as we are currently GMT -4 for EST time zone (me) so that's 7PM EST which we know Nvidia presentation is 6PM-7PM EST.

So.... either 13 HRS 30 MIN or 14 HRS 30 MIN to go! I'm guessing if we see Guru3D review then every other major site will have it up.

Ah so it will be 2300 GMT?!?!?! That is odd, usually reviews come out at around about the 1400-1500GMT time

Major review sites have to abide by what Nvidia wants and if I were them I'd NOT want to see review sites before I had my big presentation. I read that we can't see it streamed live, if anyone gets either a live feed or some kind of video of the event please post it.
