ASUS Ares CrossFireX does X27321 in Vantage - At stock clocks

Just gotten the first verified performance results from ASUS Ares. One of the new Radeon HD 5970 4GB cards coming out this quarter. You guys probably know most of the specs but I'll give you a quick low down.

Anyways we've gotten some new fresh nude pics of the card and last but not least, a 3DMark Vantage Extreme result.
Two of these babies (at STOCK clocks) have been paired with an air cooled Intel i7 980X CPU (4,5GHz) and it was enough to bring home the 5th highest score on the ORB in Extreme preset.

The system is said to be facing LN2 this weekend so we'll hopefully get some new WR results before next week. We'll keep you posted.

ASUS Ares CrossFireX showing god like performance - NordicHardware (Swedish, english version coming later today)

Well ASUS has of course done testing on these cards in house. But these are the first results that are public. And its showing pretty good promise.

Yes that's correct. That's how it always works? :P

It's the first performance figures that people outside of ASUS labs have seen, what more do you want? Except two cards of your own ofc :P

Yeah I saw running cards during Cebit at the ASUS booth and hoped they would come a month later or so.
If they really come that late I don't think there is a lot interest then. Maybe for Vram Junkies but I wouldn't know what to bench with that card - I'll take 2x5870 and have some fun with them instead Not to forget I can prolly get almost 3x 5870 for the price of one Ares

That's not that much of a problem - AwardFabrik crew was able to test 3 different Mars so if we think it is a card that is good for some WR's we would surely get hands on it I am waiting for some more benches, then let's see if it is worth a try :

aqlso the fact that you would need a octo-crossfire special driver for that which dosent exist. A true wr breaker rig would be 2 980x on ln2 with some corsair gtx-2 memory kit and 2 of those card with 4 tek fatty ln2 pot. Now you have something interesting

Nobody has tried using more than 2 dual-gpu cards that i've seen.

The problem really is the crossfire bridge. To get around it you need single gpu cards placed between the dual gpu cards so you can get away with only using single-link crossfire connectors. Whether it actually works or not has never been tested as far as I know..

All along the watchtower the watchmen watch the eternal return.
