Ok. I tried another fresh install. I deleted all the registry entries with "boinc" character string in them. Deleted all explorer items with "boinc" character string in them....after uninstalling boinc.

Re-installed. Tried to attach to gpugrid, and it did. Got the same 403 error.

I added the cc_config.xml as posted and still no love. Here is the log after a fresh re-boot and manual update:

    Code:

I think you have a firewall, antivirus suite, or proxy, blocking communications, or perhaps just the allocation of an ID, but I will ask in the GPUGrid forum about the 403 Forbidden and 403 Error messages.

If you only have the Windows Firewall on your Win7 system you can add Boinc to the Firewall as follows,
    Start, Control Panel,
    System and Security,
Allow a program through Windows Firewall,
    Allow another program,
select Boinc Manager, click add and OK.

Another possibility is that your IP address is blocked.

Concentrating on what you can do:
Double check you can write to both disks, and try the Boinc installation again as administrator, no need to finish tasks or delete any Boinc files. Just right click on the Installation and run as administrator.

No windows firewall. Controlled by the domain/network/router.

    Thanks for your help.

I'll keep an eye out for a response....giving up for now.

Did you try attaching to Einstein?

I've never set up an account with that before.

I'll give it a shot and see if boinc attaches.

EDIT: I attached to Einstein@home with no trouble at all. BOINC is running E@H tasks as I type this.

Well at least you are now making a contribution to a Boinc project with your GPU.
The fact that you can attach to another GPU project narrows the possibilities down a bit. It might still be the case that some sort of random corruption occurred during the account setup (ID assignment), but it's clearly not a general GPU project attachment issue, it's specific to GPUGrid. It might be the case that when you were trying to attach your antivirus suite kicked in and blocked something. If I knew you IP address I could ask the scientists if it's being blocked.
Einstein is based in the US (Milwaukee), while GPUGrid is in Spain (Barca). So it's possible that your server/router is preventing access to IP addresses from Spain.

Do you have an IP I can ping...to see if it goes?

I won't be able to do anything until Monday.

does this stuff work for OpenCL cards like my FireStream 9370?

let me rephrase...I've got some pretty kick@ss FireStream 9370 cards i'd like to put to use. it appears that BOINC doesn't support ATI (which is unfortunate)...are there ANY GPU projects that use ATI?!!

    skgiven....you've got private message

dave_graham....yes, there is a project or two (I'm 99.9% sure) that will run on ati....I just don't remember which ones off the top of my head right now....someone will chime in I'm sure.

    thanks, my87...

    I'm batting 000 right now.

#1.) ATI FireStream 9370 isn't even recognized by GPU CAPS Viewer
    #2.) I'm using Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Standard x86_64
#3.) It appears that the latest BOINC client doesn't recognize the latest OpenCL drivers for the FireStream (11.7) or the SDK (2.x)

Nice cards there - but no, GPUGrid does not yet support ATI (Check back though - they're workin on it!)

    Currently you're have:
    Collatz
    Milkyway
    PrimeGrid
    Seti
    Moo!

24 hour prime stable? Please, I'm 24/7/365 WCG stable!

So you can do Furmark, Can you Grid???

Did you happen to uncheck the box "Protected application execution" when you installed?

Well, it might have been grayed out if you didn't select advanced options in the bottom right... i know when I installed BOINC it was grayed out and selected by default. Any chance that's it?

Cuz that's the only thing that comes to mind... if not post up your BOINC messages for us to dig through.

I know the older version of BOINC used to have a messages tab that had a lot of information, but idk where that went on the newer version...

Stick with one of the 6.12 versions (I'm running 6.12.34 which was the last "stable" release) as the 6.13 are the start of a complete re-write and have had many probems, especially in the GPU areas.

In the newer versions of Boinc Manager (6.12.x) the message are nw in the "Event Log" wich can be found as the last item on the "Advanced" menu.

Please keep in mind that if you are only connected to GPUGrid I think you will still get this message as they do not yet support ATI cards.

While BOINC Manager should recognize FireStream dirvers it is p[ossible that it does not but that's just speulation on my part.

@csx ... I see you installed in a custom folder ... please make sure that the accounts BOINC creates (boinc_users, boinc_admins, boinc_projects) have permissions to all of the BOINC folders.
