Question on faulty products and returns.

Has anyone purchased from Newegg lately? I purchased two items recently and both were bad. I did not read reviews well enough before (duh) and found out many had the same problems. I rma'd one and said I was going to purchase a different much more expensive product and did. Then I did the same for the other. The bummer thing is they sent me crap and I had to get something different and they did not refund shipping for either item. So, for bad crap it cost me $16 and I got NOTHING. Is there a place out there that is quality anymore and will stand behind the stuff they sell?

So, because they sent me two bad items, I am responsible to pay something for it. I don't think I should be out a penny. Why should it cost me money for their problem?

How is it the retailer's problem. NewEgg didn't make the items. All they did was ship you the items you made the decision to buy. If you want the shipping paid for you should be contacting the manufacturer of the items you chose for a refund of shipping expenses.

So you don't mind getting nothing and paying $16? Ok, I guess I am wrong. I should not expect any of my items to work. Usually, when I go to stores with a defective item I return it and don't get stuck paying a penny.

Yes you do. Your time and cost of transportation to and from the place of purchase. Which is what you are also paying to return the items to NewEgg.

I have never had a problem with neweeg and or return shipping. On the rare occasion that I had a right out of the box dead unit, Newegg has always sent me a UPS ( FedEx i think they use now ) shipping label for the return trip. Then I got free shipping on my next unit so as to NOT have to pay double shipping to get one good product. I have NEVER EVER had to pay and then end up with nothing from Newegg.

Newegg is the shizznit. Call them up and explain your side to them and nicely ask if they would be willing to compensate you for your loss.
Boy that info was old. As am I. Currently my kids have taken over my desktops. They are both sporting matching GTX1080's. Last Christmas I got everyone Oculuses and thus GTX1080's. My eldest is some sort of CSGO champion gold label something or other. Me I work and shoot real guns. Build Comps as needed.

ive always called newegg when i had a problem and i have never had to pay to ship something back that was DOA, ZZF on the other hand wouldent take back my broken board and i had to spend $20 to ship it to msi then they didnt fix all of it just to make it work (i still have a dead fan header)

i hate the idea of paying to get a DOA part replaced but i can see how it could be exploited. on the shipping costs newegg has a huge discount on their shipping labels so it would be nice if they sold lables through their site at a discount rate

I was on another one of my forums and a newegg customer service person was there also. He said to contact them on this issue. I did and all was resolved. I have been doing business with newegg for 6 years now and have spent around 30 grand with them. I have rma'd in all that time 6 or 7 items total. I think they figured that I was a good customer.

So, just the other day I returned something to BestBuy. It took a whole 10 minutes of my time and I got ALL my money back. But then again I had other things to get so it really did not cost me anything extra or take any of my time.♦♦

Generally if I purchase something and it is faulty I expect to pay for the first shipment of the item to me but the replacement (shipping from me back to the store & store back to me) I expect to be taken care of by the store. This I think is rather standard even though I normally place multi-thousand $$ orders this is what I expect. (likewise in the business environment this is also what I see to be the standard for pretty much everything at least computer/server related).

Now I also expect to pay a sur-charge or fee (reasonable) for expedited handling of an RMA (cross-ship et al) like when a drive fails I pay the $20/drive to get one fedexed/upsed from the OEM/vendor for replacement (assuming it's not covered under a standard maint contract in which case it would be under those terms (NBD/4 hour response/whatever)).

I buy most of my stuff from NCIX they have Canadian and US website.
they have an option to have express RMA
pay a little bit more, $0.29 - 3% of the subtotal but they cover all shipping charges if there is any problem.
and it works well. they even cross ship to you, (credit card deposit required)
only time i buy from newegg is if they have something i can't get from newegg

I hardly ever have problems with newegg. I have done a lot of business with them over the years. I guess they felt bad for what happened because today in my email I saw two invoices. One was my shipping refund of $11 and another was a nice bag they were sending me as part of a sorry thing. I guess that's why I do business with them. They will try to make it right.
