Sports the Intel X18-M SATA drive. An dhas a $30 off promo code. I am waiting to complete my cart, hoping the 890gx boards pops back up. I was upset when it was pulled from my cart cause it was sold out LOL. I didn't move quick enough. I might just buy it any ways, it is a good price I think.
that looks like a good deal..
i got my eyes set on the new ocz solid 2 120gbbut itll be awhile before i go to ssd, unless i get an old rig or 2 sold

I saw the price on this and thought I'd give SSD a try, i was going to get a OCZ 64GB but I wanted more storage. Anything will be faster then my old WD4000 drive I have Win 7 on.
Well, I ordered and will see what it does and post it on here. Hope it does well.
Just for future reference the Storage section is here and it does not matter if you are team green or team blue
Yes, it is the X18-M which preforms almost identically to it's 2.5" brother![]()

I want to see a side by sidevideo with 2 comps with same specs with a highend mechanical HD vs. a SSD for comparison. Anyone have a link?

pretty sure you kinda find a bunch on youtube.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&highlight=SSD The keyboards, mice, and monitors are even the same.
Trust me, man, once you've experienced SSD glory, mechanical drives just feel so... inadequate.

Those Dane-Elec are a batch of old gen X18-M's, using the older 50nm procedure, whereas the newer ones use the newer 34nm. The 2 different versions can be easily recognized, because the 50nm are the black SSD's, whereas the 34nm are the silver SSD's.
Both of those are great and I don't know if there's any performance difference, however from what I understand from the Intel site is that there is some sort of difference between support or firmware or something (not sure, sorry).
When I RMA'd my 50nm X18-M Intel returned a 34nm X18-M. As you understand I was quite happy, since the 34nm is also a bit more expensive.
Everything is so much faster it's ridicolous.
Go buy a high-end system with the latest most expensive hardware out there and a mechanical drive, and I swear that an older system with a SSD will perform and feel much smoother in a desktop environment. Just putting it out thereWhen SSDs are down to about $1.5/GB with TRIM I will jump on it.

The difference is that the 34nm's are slightly faster while the 50 nm's are more durable![]()
