    To all;
    I'm at that point right now where all the other needed parts are in transit and should be here by next Wednesday then things will start to take off.
    Don't want everybody feeling like they have to jump over here every time a post is made.
    Beleive me, I'm wanting this beast up and running but for something like this a lot of high end parts were needed to be procured and that takes time.
    Patience my friends it will happen and happen here first!

    You gotta be effing kidding me! How can I resist buying one of these now! For a month now I've been telling myself "No need to spend money you dont have. When you outgrow your current system, then you can build an SR-2"

    sigh...

    I hate you now Dave ....how are you going to tease us like this.

    My ext Ascension will be here monday; new mobo tray coming soon...Now this

    who ever talked me into joining this forum I think our name should be changed to....

    hold on gotta go get a towel since drooling isn't allowed

    These are fricken sweet , but I do not think I can properly utilize this for my current plan, unless I do something different

    I need to focus on mobo and cpu's first when they become available

    I am guessing at least a $600 price tag on mobo if not a little more, but will be well worth it for a while

    Do you send the check, or SC is sending you a check...so we can get a move on this project J/K I think you said you are just waiting for the parts to arrive.

    Never responded to this I think we need to rephrase this to: need to sell my current house to afford the systems camp out in the neighbors backyard in a tent for shelter. at least the systems would be cool at night

    Time for a teaser.
    Since I'm now sure of whats coming I can toss out a teaser on the build;
    It will be in a beauuuuutiful Mountain Mods Extended Ascension with a horizontal motherboard tray. Mirror Black.
    The board you know..
    Memory: 6x2 gig of Corsair DDR3-OMG GT's..I'd describe them better but every time I look at the page and the specs I drool AND wet myself and it's embarrassing after the 12th time in one day!
    Then the PSU: IMHO the best there is: PCP+C 1200W..
    Now all I own for video cards are two identical EVGA 260GTX 192 cards.
    Excellent cards and more than I've ever needed but for testing a gentleman is making a trip down from Canada and bringing 2-5970 cards with him just to juice this up a bit.
    OOPS, forgot..The cpu's..Without giving too much away I'll just say this: There aren't better that I'm aware of!
    There damned sure aren't any faster at default with 6 cores. That I'll guaranty you.
    Stay tuned, it will be interesting.

    Yes they are. All FB-DIMMs are ECC.
    Actually, after having run it for more than a year now, the BIOS has yet to log a single memory ECC event. So this stuff is pretty reliable...

    The only hardware errors I've ever gotten were when the NB overheated and when the motherboard burned out.

    Ah... lol

    Speaking of ram... any idea when they're gonna sell affordable non-ECC 4GB DDR3 sticks?

    Working with 12GB of ram is worst than being claustrophobic in a room the size of a coffin...

    I actually don't care about Pi much... It's more about the algorithms that are involved.
    I do a couple other things that require a ton of ram... (Though they're only on the order of 8 - 32GB of ram.)
