Sell GTX285 and wait for GTX480?

    Hey Fellows

One Year ago, i bought my Zotac GTX285 AMP! 1GB for about 300€.
Now when i look at german Selling-Platforms, i see GTX285 to be sold for 400-500€

Now i'm thinking of selling my GTX285 and wait for a new Fermi Card. in the Meanwhile, i'd buy somethine tiny as replacement.

Would you recommend me to sell my gtx285 and get a Fermi or should i just stay with this card?

    sorry for my bad english

Do you mean you can get 500€ for a GTX285?

    SELL IT NOW!

That's pretty much the expected price for the GTX480, you could almost get a 5970 with it lol

well here in Europe, Hardware isn't as "cheap" as in UK or US...
for Example a new GTX280 (when released) was about 850 CHF -->550€
    that's alot!

What should i get then as replacement until fermi is out? new GPU should have 2x Dual Link DVI for my 2 24" TFT's with 1920x1200. This should run flawless... any Suggestions?

You could pick up 4830/9800gt, 4850/gtx250, or 4870/gtx260 depending on your price range. If you can get that much for a 285, you may as well put it towards a GTX480/470

It was around 450 neighourhood no doubt but that is to much even for europe, mind you i live in Cyprus and pretty much everything costs about 50-200 Euros more depending on the shop than anywhere else in the world, and

he is one of the expensive ones. i cant see how anyone would give more than 350 for a 285 these days

the 5770 is a nice low power budget gaming/htpc card, or u could get a 5850 and get something faster than the 285 that u had then upgrade if the fermi still looks good

Yes, sell it while its still profitable. Just get a cheap ass card to hold you off until Fermi arrives.

1 HD5870 is enough @ 1920x1200 or you can get dual HD5850 which similar to HD5970 in term of price/performance.
I should have sell my GTX 295 on Ebay and ship to Europe since I just sold my GTX 285 for 220 USD last year.

Depends how badly you need to (maybe) make the extra few bucks by selling it now. Personally I don't agree with enjoying a nice card, then selling it early and slumming it on old tech waiting for the new best thing.

I'd ride that 285 into the dirt. Really strong card, and I kick myself in the ass everyday for selling mine.

Hard for us in the states to offer advice on something like that, because it depends on price and availability in your particular area. At first glance what you've said would lead one to believe you can sell your 285 now while the prices are high, then get a 480. HOWEVER, we really don't know yet what the price/availability will be on the 480 yet, esp after the rumors of less than desirable yields. For all we know Nvidia may have refuted claims of high prices and low yields to get people to buy them after they see what could be very limited quantities hit the market. That could result in lots of waiting or even unfavorable price adjustments.

I say sell it though, because at least you'd recoupe everything you paid and maybe even some extra. That's ALWAYS more than most expect from PC gear, esp after having gotten some good hard gaming out of it for months. Also, if you wait to sell it after the 480 debuts you won't likely get nearly as much for it, assuming the 480 isn't a flop, which I seriously doubt it will be.

fermi is an unhatched egg...leaks show 50% improvement on selected titles over 285 gtx. In reality it is probably closer to 20-25%. And what about 295 gtx? No comparison between those 2. fermi is unlikely to become the 8800gtx of 2010.
