So the game will actually use 4 cores and 8GB of RAM?

TWIMTBP game? Because to get as far as to recommend a card that is not out for another month...

Because everyone isn't going to buy the game in the two weeks between March 16th and 26th? Is there any little thing that isn't worth whining about when it comes to Nvidia? Sigh.....

What's up with the 8GB recommendation though? My next build was gonna have 6GB and I figured that would be overkill.

I can only laugh at those specifications for a console port. It means either its super badly coded or super badly ported.

    And what the hell:

    * DirectX 9, Shader Model 3 compliant graphics cards (GeForce 8800, GeForce GT220 and above)
    * DirectX 10 compliant graphics card (GeForce GTX 260 and above)

Whoever wrote this had no idea which cards are capable of which Directx version, had they?

o.O the GT220 is able to play anything modern?!

btw I don't think the Direct X capabilities are the problem here.

perhaps with the less demanding Direct X 9, only a Geforce 8800 is required while for the more demanding DX 10, a GTX 260 is required at least?

ofcourse, i wouldn't rely on the GT220 to do anything.

If there are memory leaks that's one way to fix it

It's probably just marketing sponsored by Corsair, OCZ and Co

LOL. I'll pray it won't happen, coz I won't be able to do alt+tabs' to my trainer.

Hmmm, without SSD, no DX11 card, and with just 6gig. of RAM, yeah my rig. is not "optimum".

Yeah, it looks like this game was shoe-horned with specific coding (since we know what this game looked like as early as 2007) that may have created inefficiencies.

The ram specs left me in awe since the developer states this in a Eurogamer interview
"We don't need as much system memory as other PC-only games. Anything above 512MB RAM with DX10/DX11 code-path on Win7 would be enough," Shishkovtsov says. "DirectX 9 uses system memory backing store for almost all GPU resources, so you should add around 256 MB to avoid page-file swapping.
It recomends Nvidia cards because it supports PhysX.
Metro 2033 features superior volumetric fog, double the precision in the PhysX
I dunno if it states those specs because it scales up to that level or because without them you will have a choppy framerate....

It's apparent to me some kind of coding was recently implemented (ie:shoe-horned) which now IMO increased the recommended specifications of the game. I believe initially back in 2007 that the specs for this game where never close to being that high.

I'm not bashing Nvidia here, I'm questioning the specs mentioning a card that wont be out for about two weeks after the launch, and of which nobody outside a small group of people knows anything about.
I'd suppose they had some samples, else mentioning those cards as "optimal" would be pure speculation (Or part of the TWIMTBP contract)

And since there is no mention of equivalent ATI cards in there it makes me think this is indeed a TWIMTBP game.

Oh, yeah it is a TWIMTBP game and yes they worked very closely with Nvidia so should have had whatever access to Fermi parts that was needed for development/testing of DirectX and PhysX stuff.

Fail, they must be on Nvidia's payroll.

ROFL. And that's after them saying in the interview a few days ago that the game is going to fly on any PC with 512MB of RAM due to their absolutely awesome optimisations...

that's the only thing that bothers me too... Though I remember reading some time ago the interview with th developpers that were talking about ATI optimisation as well as optimisation for nvidia systems. Afterall, it still is a heavily reworked stalker engine that has traditionally favored the ati cards.

    Ugh, another Nvidia TWIMTBP title...

I assume all graphics options will be crippled or broken with ATI cards then.

It's never good to have such high expectations I'm waiting as well, but I'm very skeptical.
Notice any grammar or spelling mistakes? Feel free to correct me! Thanks
