well idk man, do we really WANT a game to use 8gb of memory?
games that use lots of ram are usually coded pretty badly and manage resources very badly... and thats why they need lots of mem...

i sure hope thats not the case here...

    * DirectX 9, Shader Model 3 compliant graphics cards (GeForce 8800, GeForce GT220 and above)
    * DirectX 10 compliant graphics card (GeForce GTX 260 and above)

Whoever wrote this had no idea which cards are capable of which Directx version, had they?

I sure as hell don't want a game that utilizes 8GB of memory..

If Metro 2033 does indeed utilize that much memory though, I may as well upgrade to the full 12GB, which is even more overkill since I'm on an i7 platform...

Ugh, that trailer must be from the console version as the graphics look nowhere near as good as the trailer on the game's website..

If you look at the Eurogamer interview linked earlier, you would know that this is incorrect. The guy they interviewed even explained the engine's design approach which is completely different, reasons why this isn't related to the X-Ray engine.

Of course it is the console version. That's the one they want to showcase.

I remember seeing the gameplay videos for CoD4 before it was released and they were done with the X360 version. I was like "WTF, why using the X360 version instead of the PC one to promote the game?"...
Not much later i realized why of course

Hell, even Kotaku reviewed F.E.A.R. 2 as a whole using the X360 version.
Developers don't want to show the PC version using K&M in pre-release trailers since it would generate an unrealistic gameplay expectation for 60%+ of their customer base...

    True!

If nVidia use any of their grubby tactics to make this another Cryostasis then I hope someone delivers a massively big splintery dildo into their collective ar$$es.

I don't think it will be an nvidia-only game. I think it will have full ATI support. You see, ATI is working really hard these days to make a proper use of the opportonity they have now of conquering the market. Really it can be seen by how hard they work on their drivers at least. I don't think they will miss such a title like Metro 2033, and the fact that nvidia is all over it now with its ty physics tricks and sorry 3dvision, isn't going to change that. Still, it's the same stalker only with better graphics - it can be seen from the screenshots with naked eye. I'll try to find the article where the same guy speaks about the equal ati and nv optimisation of the game they were wokring on.

About the x-ray engine and metro2033:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metro_2033#Engine

Ok, found the article about the ati cards support. I initially read it on a different source but it's the same here. The article was in russian, so here is the translated english version:
    http://translate.google.com/translat...ATI.%26hl%3Den

and the original for those who can understand the russina language:
    http://mgnews.ru/read-news/metro-2033-krasota-podzemki

    ------------
So, by summarizing the abovementionned (and some other info), I can draw the following conclusions:
    - The game will run equally well with all eye candy turned on on the latest hardware form both nvidia and ati.
    - Possibly, nvidia cards will have better physics special effects, but I think in real life the difference will be minimal. Or will be diminished by the perfomance drop.
    - The game uses heavily reworked x-ray engine. (this can be seen from the screenshots and it is directly said so in the russian page of wilkipedia about the x-ray engine).
    - The game will ROCK hehe

I sense....moron!? That came directly from the devs themselves. Pull your head out.

^ There's nothing to indicate the game won't run perfectly fine on AMD hardware. During one of the dev interviews they indicated that both IHV's were in on the project.

I admit I'm not exactly a uber FPS fan but are you shure this game is going to be that hot?

I've seen 3 or 4 trailers of Metro 2033's gameplay and as far as I can tell this will be the "clean up a room/shoot your way up to another room/clean it/... the end" kind of game. Boredom^100, IMHO.

The stoyline seens like almost a carbon copy of dozens of game and makes Tom Clancy's material Nobel Prize worthy...

    Hope I'm wrong, though.

Crazy requirements I agree (if true), but I think the game looks better than Crysis; especially the character models due to the benefits of DX11..

A lot of footage and screenshots floating around come from the console version, which is vastly inferior to the PC version.

    8 GB of ram?

Shouldn't be too much of a problem for me...

Um... was there even mention of that game being x64? I sure hope so otherwise, that is one epic fail...

You'd think for optimum they'd have mentioned Windows Vista / 7 64bit if that were the case...
