SB850 and the gx has integrated graphics,so wouldnt it be easier to launch
the 790fx first.or is there something more complicated in making the 790fx?
very sorry if im annoying people but im just trying understand why they
make the enthusiast wait a month.because i know enthusiast will buy the gx
to hold them over till the fx comes out.is this the reason maybe?if they release
the fx first at the same time, sales of the gx will drop?
Well , i would think The GX is out first because on the new intel IGP , 890GX should offer some HTPC features ,that are currently not found on 790 .

Well, is there real difference between FX and GX? I mean you culd just disable IGP and have the FX, couldn't you?

You can even try to turn on SurroundView if they still have it in BIOS and try to have 4 displays...I succesfully used this with my 780G+HD 3870, half year before any mention about Eyefinity (well, there were some driver issues with some Catalyst versions and I never tried any game with this, but it could be just matter of settings as multiple display gaming was possible before Eyefinity, only more complicated).

I think the major difference is about pci-e lines, FX can crossfire 2 video cards with both running at 16x, or 3 video cards runing at 16x/8x/8x or 4 video cards runing at 8x/8x/8x/8x. GX can crossfire 2 video cards with both at 8x, nothing more.

also FX is always ATX,the GX can be both (mATX or ATX)

Unless it's my DFI boards:the 790gx (jr m2rs) has better options then the FX (790 M2R UT)
To be fare the latter is SB600 or "vintage fx".

How the heck did they not fix the 8 channel audio?????

They are going to lost the HTPC market to intel sadly.
    HTPC - AMD Phenom II 555 Unlocked(4cores) - 4GB Gskill - AMD HD 5850 - Avermedia Duet - Harman Kardon avr247 - Surround Sound (Infinity Beta 50's, 10's, 360, and ed a2-300) - Samsung 46"

Desktop Powerhouse PC - Gathering dust due to high usage of HTPC as general pc now

I'm not sure about these release dates, Newegg listed a 890GX board and its now listed as unavailable. Usually when that happens the item officially goes on sale about 5 days later.
Main rig (Plan to sell the mobo/cpu/ram and turn into a 890GX build, or completely sell)

    Mobo:ASUS P6X58D Premium
    CPU:Core i7 920 (Stock undervolt)
    RAM:3GB DDR3 Mushkin Blackline (1600MHZ)
    Video card:Sapphire 5850
    Power supply:Antec EW 500W
    CPU cooler:Corsair H50
    Case:Antec 300 Illusion

    Secondary (Brother uses it)

    Mobo:ASrock N68-S
    CPU:Athlon X2 5000+, not BE
    RAM:2GB DDR2 800
    Video card:MSI 9800GT Dual slot
    Power supply:TT 600W, 70% efficiency
    CPU cooler:Rocketfish rebrand

    MSI 890FXA-GD70

Here's a case in point. The MSI 890FXA-GD70 is based on AMD's upcoming premier consumer chipset known as 890FX. Continuing on from the 790FX as the enthusiast-orientated core-logic, it packs in a new southbridge with integrated SATA 6Gbps, as well as supporting the soon-to-be-released six-core Phenom II chip that's currently known as Thuban.

The GD70 packs in a healthy dollop of features, including five mechanical x16 PCIe, a single PCIe x1 and a conventional PCI slot. MSI throws in its DrMOS, OC Genie, and APS technologies, too.

We expect it to be priced at around £140 when launched in a couple of weeks' time. The logic improvements are minor over the incumbent, but six-core Thuban and 890FX will provide an interesting alternative to Intel's Core i7/LGA1156/1366 platforms. Tempted?

Think that Giga 890GX is really done too fast.

Evry time Giga is delivring the mobo the first but far from the best one.

Drmos is one of the error of this motheboard. Whatch the radiator. The airflow is coming frome right to left with the airflow of the processor and the airflow of the whole rig.

This is stupid to have the Drmos radiator in this side ? ...

and Quad crossfire is the actually impossible to use. Only single slot for most of them. I got a crossfire with the 3870. And i don't like multi gpu, micoshuttering is real. Why use 4 low power GPUs ?

Not usefull. And how is set the PCI-E links ? By AMD it's said to be 2*8 PCI-E 2.0. It's gonna very very limited by pci-e. & I can add this is not the only one error made.

This motherboard is just amazing for the stupidity of the design.

I hope some other guys will do better. Hope to see the FX one fast too.

    What are you talking about???
Gigabyte has no DRMOS but MSI has.

Why again is 2x PCIe2.0 with 8 lanes each not enough? Remember the high end i975 chipset had 2x PCIe 1.0 with 8 lanes = half the bandwidth.

And which 890GX board has 4x PCIe slots for graphics cards to realise this quad crossfire you are takling about?
