Well I'm going to retire a few this week, can't afford the electric to keep them all going. Thinking of selling the two HP boxes and maybe also one, maybe both of the core 2 duo boxes. Then with the money raised see what I can replace them with that is more power efficient and see how close I can get to the output of those 3 or 4 boxes with 1 box that uses a fraction of the power. That Athlon X4 640 pulls about the same power as one of those HP X2 4000+ boxes does, yet has faster clock speeds, a little better architecture, and 2 more cores. Pretty cool... so who knows I may replace the 4 dual cores with a couple quads and call it a day. Will compare cost/output of an i7 and an AMD hexas too.

As far as the nicest in the cardboard, well, you try and find a case for that weird motherboard

Tin snips, a drill, some taps and a tin full of stand-offs and you'd be amazed how many cases it will fit!

    muahahahahahaha! Franken-casemods ftw!

Main farm update, The Dell and the other computer on the lower left I ran for super computer week, can't afford to keep them on.
On the lower right are Crunchers 2 and 1, and above them is Sammy 1.

    Cruncher 3

Two new Sammys I got last week. Low on proper heat sinks, dremel + random Heat sinks + zip ties = Cheap yet effective cooling.

And to follow slaveondope, heres the Bonic Tasks screen.

Ya, I, uh likes the velcro a lot! I take pride in my cable management, given how many systems are here. I'll have to put up my entertainment system.

I have this dream of a nice tidy 48U rack with all my crunchers in 4U cases inside. That would be lovely

Might as well post what I have:

    Rig 1: i7-2700k @ 4.4GHz + GTX470:

    Rig 2: AMD X4 965BE @ 3.4GHz

I'm decomissioning this one soon, but I'll be replacing it with an OCed i7-920 when I get my EVGA X58 back from RMA

    Rig 3: i7-860 @ 3.4GHz + 2xGTX460 1GB

Rig 4: i7-3612QM @ 2.8GHz (this is amazing, it does ~3.8k PPD for 44w DC or ~60-65w AC)

Not shown I also have a Pentium Dual Core T4200 and Core 2 Duo T9600 (both stock)

If you cut a piece a cardboard the size of your PSU, you can put that between the mobo and the PSU and your cruncher will take up less space potentially allowing you put another cruncher or two in there

    Hey pal, How you doing?
Still out in the jungles of Borneo or back amongst the civilized folks?

Compared to these farms all I have is a small vegetable patch!

Thanks! I actually had the PSU and HDD stacked on top of the PCI/PCIe slots, but that got shifted when I had to move it yesterday (still running OFC, couldn't afford downtime). Once I take it to my parents today (surprise replacement for their C2D E6400 I built them a few years back), then I'll put the i7-920 there. After that I think I'd have room for maybe one or two uATX rigs. We'll see. Might as well take advantage of the free electricity here at uni

    Wow, that is simply amazing!!
What do you do with all of those GPUs? Getting prepared for when the WCG GPU client comes out of beta?

Also, I assume that you are use "minhund" at TechPowerUp? I don't speak Norwegian, but I know enough German to recognize that minhund translates to MyDog.

    Cool

Are you crunching on all of those CPUs then? I see your signature and how it says you're inactive, but then again you're posting in the WCG Farm thread...

Might as well post what I have:

On the very right is a HP DC5800 with a Celeron Dual Core E1600. On the red box at the right is an AMD X2 4200+ running a 9600GSO (folding). In that box is my Atom system--you can just barely see it. In the red box on the left is a C2D T9600 and a PentDC T4200. On top of that box is a C2D E6400 running an 8800GTS and 9600GSO (folding). On the very right are two HP DC5800s, each with a C2D E8400. You can barely see the corner of my Thinkpad E430, with an i7-3612QM.

In the very back corner is my Xeon DP system--two E5420s and a Radeon HD7930. Just in front of it (still on the windowsill, caseless) is an i7-860 running a Radeon HD7950. In the white midtower case is a Core i7 2700k running two Geforce GTX470s. In the black midtower case is an i7-920 running three Radeon HD7770s. In the black ITX case is an i3-3100 running a Radeon HD7850.
