    Overclocking and ICH10R raid failures

I have 4 Western Digital Black 640GB drives in a RAID0+1 1.2TB array and also a 26GB RAID0 array on my ICH10R, and have gotten two drives at separate times to show up as "error occurred" status. Also the Intel Storage Manager is showing a balloon tip explaining "A drive in a RAID 0 volume is failing. Try to back up data immediately." Each time the drives have not actually failed and both arrays have remained accessible.

I am going to run Western Digital Diagnostics tool from a CD on each drive with the extended test, but I did that 2 weeks ago when I got the drives and each one came out with 0 errors. Could overclocking my system be causing the arrays to fail? If so what can I do to stabilize this? Would it be the voltage of something needs to go up? I have water on cpu and chipset with enough headroom to handle the heat increase.

I have seen data corruption problems in systems with high PCI-E MHz speeds.

Try changing the sata cables on the failing drives. For 2 months i kept getting this error from time to time and it turned to be a failing sata cable.

Failing two cables is highly unlikable @ the same time but give it a try...

    +1

Failing cables has caused this error for me more than once...

Also, if using onboard try keeping PCI-e below 115 and consider bumping up the southbridge voltage a bit...
