I like the V8 backplate. Using it with my EK Supreme Tweaked (Matches the classy quite well).

I don't like how thick and uneven the EK is.

Well, if you go EK for the CPU block, I'd suggest the V8 backplate over theirs.

No, that's better than the one I got. It's a multi-option.

In retrospect, I only didn't like it because I wasn't satisfied with the clearance the washers provided over the Intel required backplate, and the full-cover rubber spacer (same size and shape as the backplate) plus the counter-sunk screws made contact with the case, and I didn't want all that heat against rubber.

To be honest, if the cpu is cooled to 40 degrees at load, I dont think it wouldnt make any difference to the rubber.

Any suggestion about the radiators combinations and how many loops should I consider as I am considering one GTX 480 and 12 GB dominator GT 1600 is welcomed at my thread.

Update:

Done with exams like a week ago, had good break. Now I am back working on my pc.

I got the following
BP fittings both compression and barbed with clips.
480 XPS Radiator
Asus GTX 480
EK waterblock for the motherboard and for the graphics card (including the backplate which is on the way)
Lamptron Fan controller
Couple of more Enermax fans


I want to paint the radiator and I got myself a sander. I do not know how to start with it. There are 80,100,120 grit sandpaper available with the sander I bought. I do not know with one to use. I checked the youtube and could not find the answer for myself.

Need help.

Are you going to wetsand the gloss on the radiator? if so I would suggest you want to get some higher grits aswell 1500-2000 range

Those are two gentlemen here who have sanded/painted rads quite well recently. I'd ask them if they don't stop by on their own.

Well I tried to paint my three radiators and here is the result:


Sanding was the toughest thing to do, I sand and sand even used sander, after sanding for long time, this was the result:

Wish they didnt have have put small red plexi, it took ages to put washer in the transparent plexi and screw it real tight. I hope it does not leak.

lol. I agree. Half way through sanding the radiator it looked good and I thought of leaving like that. Unfortunately, that was not the theme of my work.

It would look good, if my theme was for steampunk mod (like churchy mentioned)

As first time doing this work, now I know why people take their sweet time to make beautiful cases. This kind of work needs dedication for perfection, patience and lot of hard work.

Those stickers are for warranty verification. If your block leaks they want to know you didn't open it (even though you have to change out the red piece )

thats what I meant. what if i messed up changing the red piece. I was when it came with red piece attached. In the picture it was with transparent piece.

Why do they let me down?

I planning to do hardcore wiring and sleeving for the fans.

I have a question about LED switch on enermax fans. I notice that there are two wires of different colors.

Is it possible to join the wires of the same colors and connect them to the switch?

Also, each fans have thermal sensor. Should I just cut the sensor off and join the wires together? sensor looks like two wires joined with melted pasted shaped like a bud
