    New Toys!

Don't ya just love tax time....

Finally gonna clean my rig up. WooHoo!
I was really tired of that ugly 10 yr old external water box, and my attempt
to ditch it still resulted in my Antec 900 with a tripple rad and res hanging off the back...

Well, there was a method to my maddness friends.
And all those parts I bought to ugly up my Antec will now fit nicely into my
new Corsair 800D (this thing is frikken HUGE)....

    Plus these other goodies:

I'm really kind of excited about finally making the move to an SSD.
It's fairly new on the market and uses the new JMicron 612 controller, but the price was right for a 128 Gb and I bought it locally, so if it's really bad
I have 30 days to return it. Hopefully they got it right this time...

Oh well, I'm off to tear stuff apart (my favorite thing )....

I'll post some pics when I get it all done.

Well... That certainly turned out to be the weekend adventure!

Routing the hoses drove me nuts. I could have made it alot easier and left
out the ThermoChill/UltraKaze, but when OC'ing cranking the fan on that thing
really helps keep water temps down (and makes alot of noise!).

I had it all together, primed and ready to go last night (this morning) at about 4am, fired it up and the system wouldn't recognize the A-Data SSD...

I took it back today, payed an extra $60 and got a Vertex 120 (has a $30 rebate). Everythings golden now, This is a new version of Win7 so I still have alot
of work to do getting everything back the way I like it, but my beta7 was about ready to expire anyway...

I don't think it looks too bad considering Very Few mods (I did have to drill a few holes):

Heres the front panel with fan controls for the Thermochill, Tripple, Mem and PWM fans, plus temp sensors for the Water, NB, Mem and case. All functioning I might add...

I'm not sure if it was reseating my block using MX3 or adding the Thermochill back into the loop, but my load temps under P95 dropped about 5c (44c max under 20 minute prime)....

Once I get my OS sorted I'll try to push for a little more clock.

Oh Yeah! Here ya go FlanK3r, HDTune for the Vertex and the WD Black:

I need to do some reading on tweaking the OS for an SSD, but the scores look pretty impressive already.

very nice man! i wish ssd's were so freakin expensive. 44c max temps were w/ what clocks & volts for cpu & nb?

edit: also, how is that spot cool? i was thinking about getting one for same reason as you

Yeah, I never would have bought one, but I had extra cash from my tax check.

    CPU was @ 4050 1.5v (1.488 w/droop) and NB is @ 2475 1.25v.
My NB is kind of weak, it will do a little better but I wanted to make sure everything was rock solid while loading OS and programs.

Spot Cool: It helps ALOT, also as long as the heatpipe is connected it seriously lowers temps on your NB as well.

    Nice Dave,

You certainly took enough ribbing over your homegrown cooling box, even though it performed well. Glad you got some new toys.

The only new acquisition for me is a wd cavair black 2tb, although as usual I haven't had time to play with it yet...

I hear ya Charged, I did this to get ready for 890/Thuban when they're released...

I get the feeling the X6's are going to like water cooling even more than the X4's.

I think I'm going back to MSI this time around though....
I've always had good luck with them and a black pcb would look much better in my case.

I like your cable/pipe management - very tidy!

Tomorrow I finally start moving to my own house. Just in time to save some money for Thuban and maybe new 890FX mobo!

Wow! A couple of the oldtimey Phenom guys came out...

Thanks for the comments jonspd and Lightman!

This case is HUGE, but it really makes it easy to put together a clean looking rig
without having a workshop (although my kitchen was a mess for a couple days )...

Sorry I haven't been very active on here the last few days...
One of my best friends past away on Teusday (see my Avatar).
She's been sick for a few months and I'm sure she's in a better place,
but that doesn't make it any easier. I miss her....

    Enough of that.......

jonspd: You should install that SSD! I'm really amazed at how snappy my rig is now,
and if your using Win7 just direct all your Documents, Pics, Music and Downloads
to a mechanical drive to save space on the SSD.

I like having the whole thing selfcontained. Once it stops flurrying/drizzling here I'm going to try setting the whole rig outside for the lower temps (Thanks Zeus).

sorry about your cat dave, thats a real bummer... my family has had many pets as long as i can remember so i know how it is too.

about your new toys, glad the rigs running good... im trying to picture that case next to my antec 300 i think im still picturing it smaller than it really is lol.

your toys tipped me to order some more stuff for my pc since its been awhile didnt have enough money for any good hardware upgrades (5850 or better xfire & 120+gb ssd for OS are next in line, and obviously thuban ) so i bought most of the rest of the stuff ive been wanting to finish modding my case & a few accessories, like 6x 113cfm 120x25 deltas for push pulls on my rads XD with a fan controller, some psu extentions so i can sleeve them & not void warrenty lol, white tubing & some other stuff... i should get rest of my stuff by monday so it should hopefully be done around middle of next week. ill get a picture up, a little crowded compared to yours

I just happen to have an Antec 300, and I bought it downstairs today to try out my new 555BE (it's not doing so well BTW...)....

Since I had it down here next to the 800-D I thought I'd take a pic so you could see the size difference...

YES, the 800-D is HUGE, but I still like it... I have the space and it fits just fine in my situation.

Here's a pic for reference compared to the Antec 300:

Gratz on the new gear bro! Sounds like your doing the same thing I did...
Buying parts you know you can use down the line even though they might not be the best fit for your current situation.

Be sure to post pics somewhere when you get all the new parts installed..

BTW: thanks for the kind words concerning my cat. It's been pretty rough the past few days, but I'm feeling a little better now....
I'm sure the beers don't hurt...
