I must start thinking seriously about water again

look at this after 40 minutes of prime......voltage was set to 1.6v in the bios.

and it was on its way down it had actually been at 68c dont know if those temps were reading right though? If so Thuban has tolerance for higher temps

    Ohh sh**!
My CPU is not tolerant to over 55C when above 4.2GHz!
    It prefers cool environments

You're mad giving 1.6V core and 1.55V CPUNB at the same time
CPU must consume like 300W from the socket

^^ It should draw ~240W from the socket at those voltage levels ,not a bad trade off for a massive speed up from stock.

i think the interesting part is how the 980x got over 12pts with 12 threads, while just 100 mhz lower i7 920 gets only 7.5pts with 8 threads. that is a beastly chip, lol. too bad a 2p system can probably cream it for the same price. we are at the point where its not just being a little faster, with how much multi score scaling can provide for an incredible value. (basically if your going to have an 6 core, 12 threaded chip, the only think you can possibly use it for, a 2p system is built to do it just as well, not like games will really notice)

Well I can't quite catch justin but here is my best score so far.

If you guys would rather I not post them here because of being on chilled water that's ok I'll take them back down if you want? I guess it wouldn't fair to compare chilled water scores with guys running their rigs on room temp air or water. Just let me know.

I just noticed CPU-z shows the NB @2200MHz but in fact its more like 3080MHz

    Chilled water cooling CPU only

Awsome score man whats the ambiant on the cpu?? Mine was 17c. Did you notice Thuban being a bit more resistant to the cooling?? Comparing My 965Deneb at 1.65v I could ambiant at 10-12c and load at about 22c.......With Thuban at 1.6-1.65v I was seeing 16-18c and load going to around 27c depending on the length of the test.

my result is chilled water also so If you cant be there Ill have to be taken down also.....i think chilled water and cold air is ok you can do it without any special preperation/altering to the mobo, no dry ice or ln2 or LHe is definitely in another league

    thats definitely specialized cooling

i wonder if the fact the chip is bigger, aka, more surface area, is why its able to be cooler when running at lower or same volts.
if the volts needed on C3 was 1.5, now only take 1.45, you reduced the heat per mm2 right, making it easier to cool?
