    I thought about that. But my tubing is not long enough. And There is not enough space outside the window to accommodate such a monster as the Mora3 .
    But 7C less would surely help improve my OC. But did you never experience condensation issues in winter? I mean when temps outside are near 0 and 20 in your room.

    I had bought DragonSkinFX to insulate the board and foam for board and tubing. I managed to control this with a dehumidifier, since ΔΤ is not so high and keeping the humidity at 35-40% had the same effect.

    Room temperature is 19C and lowest outer temperature the previous 2 years was 8C @ 5AM (while pc was not operating). I also had plans of adding a temperature relay for the radiator fans, for controlling the lowest water temperature.


    Right now, while pc is idle :




    You can use L-brackets to secure it outside the windows and get 2-3 meters of tubing to extend it to this point, if your case is close to it. The phobya 1080 actually is almost the same size with MO-RA, so no problem.

    Any news on max OC with water?
    I think this chip could potentially outperform my existing OC'd 3770

    Hey FlanK3r,

    Sadly, the AMD section is pretty dead nowadays... Sucks that they're not really competitive anymore, but "it is what it is".
    I still enjoy tweaking them, and my 8370E is a nice chip!

    As you requested, I did a CB11.5 test tonight... It was actually a little tougher than CB15 was! Since it's kinda cold tonight I made a ghetto rig to take advantage!

    The slight mods they made to the 8370E make it a decent upgrade! I've been an AMD guy since Commodore (Amiga) went out of business. Hopefully things will come back around...

    very nice setup Dave . We are with few others last enthusiast of AMD here . I believe, next year in the end AMD bringt us something good. Vishera was good, but now is more than 2 years old...Hard fight against 22nm Haswells...

    hi folks,

    i thought i'd do a small update for my machine since its been a while. i've been running 2 cores on each of the 8 dies of my Quad Opteron machine at 3.6 GHz and 1.275v just fine... i leave the rest at just 1.4 GHz and run all my programs on the fast cores... but just for giggles i set all cores to run at 3.2 GHz to revisit my Cinebench score... just thought i would share the updated results here:

    i've always wondered if the on board VRMs have a safety switch of some sort. i usually run 2.1 GHz first core, then 3.6 GHz second, then 1.4 GHZ, 1.4 GHz and 3.6 GHz again, then 1.4 GHz last core... and repeat all the way through all 48 cores. i absolutely cannot go beyond 3.6 GHz on the fast cores without the machine just going blank (ie monitor going to all black, when things go into full load). Everything is fine at 1.275v however.

    i think i seriously need to run some VRM heat sinks... airflow on mine is quite good as i run a SuperMicro case with this quad board.

    i've really only seen 2 BD arch (ie 62xx, 63xx) Opteron Cinebench results that i was impressed with... and one is yours. There is another guy that managed 4.1 as well... with good results as well. You seem to have yours setup very well.

    Have you tried running staggered cores like i do? i wonder if you could get the "fast" cores running much faster - say 4.6 GHz?

    16x4.6 GHz cores = ultimate Piledriver machine

    a) there is a kind of wall - for 6380ES - 4,1GHz and for 6386ES - 4,2GHz - from which, no matter the voltage you put in the CPU, they cannot cope with the benchmarks / stress tests. The 6380ES is limited by the +85-90mV given by the modified BIOS, but even if the 6386ES has not this problem, it cannot be raised more then 4,3-4,4GHz with all cores;
    b) there is also an issue with the air cooling - assuming you are using Noctua 12cm coolers,with the air flow horizontal in a tower case - from HDD cage to the backplate/shield of the mobo,the dimensions of the cooler do not allow to install even 4 of the 8 DIMM's per CPU. Only Noctua 9cm cooler allows installation of all DIMMs as described above, but cannot cope with TDP 140W + overcloking. I'm using a Thermalright HR01+ and HR01 with custom made clip for G34, which allows me to install only 4+4 DIMMs.
    c) as the Piledriver cores need a lot of power and the best single CPU arrangements are the 12+2 phases motherboards(Asus CH5-formulaZ, Asrock 990FX Extreme9), with 2 "Piledriver" cores glued together with a common L3 cache, the SM mobo 6 phase power supply is the issues - I don't think the cooling of the VRM will help more, and forcing the mobo will have dramatic effects regarding its remaining lifetime;
    d) I will try a run with staggered cores if possible, as this arrangement will put a lower pressure on the mobo's VRM, unfortunately I have only two week-ends per month when I can play with my toys.

    hi David, i know its a full 6 years on... but i finally upgraded my Quad socket H8QGi-f processors with a pair of 6380ES. They seem to be quite overclockable. i'm running them with the BIOS set to Downcore mode "Compute Unit" option. This CC6 power gates one core in each Piledriver Compute unit, essentially halving the # of cores presented to the OS. This really lowers the temps, and allows my 92mm Noctua NH-U9DO A3 coolers to cope with the temps. i think this way of doing this also gives an increased cooling area per core as the G34 chips have a larger heat sink contact area.

    i'm currently running them at Pb0 - 4.473 GHz (single core turbo), and Pb1 - 3.727 GHz (all core turbo) with the ref clock at 213.
