    I really like it.
However, I killed my SSD while running the system at 134 FSB.
It might be a coincidence, but be careful. Not sure if PCI-E is tied to FSB again, but most probably - yes.
This ssd had been running numerous times at 130+ PCI-E on other platforms (e.g. DFI 790FXB-M2RSH), but died shortly on this one.

ufff, good to know it. I tested with classic HDD 5150 Athlon and I had some issues with booting with high BCLK wall (sometimes no post, sometimes OK to Windows)

Latest Cinebench 11.5 results... for my Quad Opty home machine... did some BIOS tuning:

    16.86

Setup is SuperMicro quad opteron motherboard, populated with 2 Opteron 6180SE (2.5 GHz, 12 cores each = 24 cores total).

Just updated my "Quad Opty" project machine tonight with 4 ES chips (unlocked multiplier and voltage).

Here's the baseline with 4 x Opteron 61xx ES chips running at 2.1 Ghz: 26.83

    hi Felix,

    Thanks

i pulled the two 6180SEs that i had in there and installed these yesterday, so i thought i would take a baseline. These ES chips are unlocked for both voltage and clock multiplier so i'll be running them at 3.0 GHz... as soon as i get to that (probably this weekend) i will most certainly do another Cinebench 11.5 run.

    Hi Felix,

i probably will up things to 2.5 over the weekend now that i think about it... (same stock speed as the 6180SEs that were in there). The reason being that the two dynatrons that are running on top of the upper two processors are probably not up to snuff for 3 GHz. Need to pick up another two Noctua coolers for that. Its an interesting and fun project.

Had some time to spend seeing how well these 4 chips would run at 1.1v. They didn't like 2.8 GHz but run at 2.6 GHz completely stable... didn't want to up the voltage or frequency beyond that because i am still using two stockish coolers on the top two processors... hope you folks like the results as much as i did:

hi felix, i see you are just as shocked as i was... the ridiculous thing is that these things can be taken up to 1.55 volts i think... and i know they are all capable of 3.0 GHz. Power consumption wasn't too bad given that the motherboard was throwing 124.8 GHz at the problem... it ran around 660 watts. The things ran very cool as well. i think low 40Cs range on the ones cooled by the Noctuas. A bit shocking to me to say the least.

Fun pic i took just after installing them:

Latest update for my Quad Opty rig: Up to 2.6 Ghz ran fine on stock voltage of 1.1. Tried running 2.7 GHz on stock voltage... no go... so bumped it to 1.125v and it ran fine up to 2.8 GHz. 2.9 Ghz required a bump to 1.15v. 3.0 Ghz required another bump to 1.175v. Everything is stable. It seems that AMD really outdid themselves with these Magny Cours chips. Wattage during these Cinebench runs was around 920 or there abouts for the 3.0 GHz runs. i really think this has more in it, but we are talking well over 1000w... probably closer to 1100w at full bore... which is a bit crazy if you ask me for a home PC. In addition the SuperMicro PSU is only rated for 1400w...

The score for 3.0 Ghz: 37.21

Hi Flank3r, same thoughts as me

if you would like watch a run... i uploaded it to Youtube:

At some point i will try for 3.1 and 3.2 GHz... by upping the voltage a bit, and i did get a run in at 3.1 but it wasn't stable... but it was drawing 1025 watts from the wall... so i thought i should probably stop for now. Hope folks enjoy the vid (was a bit tired when i made it but that is the way it rolls)...

This is the highest my FX will go.

    A run @ 5350 Mhz - Score 9.09

5400 Mhz isn't achievable. Perhaps with a room temperature of 10C or less ...

Thanks for the advice. It does help

    Here is a run @ 5375 Mhz - Score 9.23
Room temp while benching was 17C. Nearly achieved a 5400 Mhz run, but Cinebench freezed near completion.

I have a highend watercooling. Completely custom.

Pump : Aquastream XT Ultra. This pump is quiet, powerful and compared to other pumps it only consumes 4-5 watts. Less heat transferred to the water.
Radiator : Mora 3 with 4 180mm fans. Probably the best radiator out there.
Waterblock : Koolance 380A. Bought it a few days ago, but doesn't do much better than my old NexXxos.
    My R290 is also watercooled.

The fact is, many here would do better than my FX 8320. When you delid the CPU, you can expect an improvement of 50 to 100 Mhz.
So my chip is above average, but the new FX that came out should do better if delidded.

If your tubing is long enough you can leave the rad outside, so the tubing passes through a small gap of the door/window

This is how my setup is, actually, but permanent. I have a Phobya 1080 with D5 placed outside and i guided the tubing through the outer wall into the room...

You can gain a 7-8C difference and still not freeze yourself
