I've not run under 3v on any of my ram in almost a years time and have not had a failure yet. As long as you have have good airflow and cooling it should not be detrimental.

    Quad

    Thank you my friend
Indeed ...my eyes are on the KD7 Raid board. I hope the boards hit retail sooner rather than later

And really I've found that even under extremely high fsb speeds and 3.2v my ram w/ it's heatspreader doesn't even get slightly warm! It feels like just chilly metal.

hmm, my corsair xms3000 gets warm when set to run at 3.0V+ on my KX7-333. The HS on my stick seems to be glued hard to mem chips and i don't wanna try to remove it yet, cos it's the only good stick i own at the moment
my next target is to break 15k with AMD, but it's gonna be hard to get there. btw, i've seen pix of Epox KT400 based mobo today and can't wait to get either Epox or Abit and run some benchmarks.

sysfailur u got a fan blowing at it?

i got an 80mm mounted on the edge of the case blowing towards the ram so its about 6 inches away from it.

Im running 2x256mb single sided samsung original DTL's.

I just tried 3.12v and 196fsb, cas2, 4way, 3/6/3, enhance on, dram access 2t, command rate 1t and fast decode and everything else on defualt. Failed prime.

Upped to 3.15v now with same settins, trying again chips are starting to get a bit warm to the touch now, not burning warm but pretty warm.

*edit* it did better at 3.15v but still failed

Negative. No fans. Room temp of 66.6F currently, and it's usually 60-68 in here.

    Randi,

I got a little something for you which might help you juice out a few more mhz on your comp. Now I dunno if you're using it already but here is SetFSB for the KR7A/KX7-333R/AT7.

Just open it and get fsb , then set it! Who knows, maybe you'll get a few more. If you're already using it nevermind me :P And for everyone else if you want it feel free to get it.

I give up this memorys just plain crap.

cant even buy new memory now cos id buy a single 512, but it looks like dual channel ddr will need 2 sticks to get best performance out of it so then id be stuck havgin to buy yet another 2x256mb sticks.

and my ram was getting quite warm at 3.15v even with the fan blowing towards it.

    Sys

    Thanks a bunch..and no...I hadn't been using that proggie

    Ewok

I must tell you...I have not owned a stick of ram that passed Prime at high FSB 195+ with max timings. That is not to say that its no good either..as they have all benched 3DMark successfully at Xtreme FSB and voltage...but failed Prime. I use Prime to determine a stable top CPU Mhz...but not necessarily with the ram at mega FSB. I ususally raise the multi and lower the FSB. Once I determine a Prime proofed top CPU speed..then I reduce the multi...up the FSB and go benching other benches. I'm not sure that alot of ram...even great quality..will endure maxed out timings and FSB in Prime...but there are the few that do

Im not even using max timings though. cas2, 4way, 3/6/3, 1t, enhance on. It wont get anywhere near 195 with anything faster. It bugs me a lot that with 1 stick using the exact same timings, voltage and everything else, I got 340fps in Q3, with 2 sticks it was 332 with identical settings. and im sure with 1 stick I could getit to 195 stable, maybe higher. Maybe the Kt400 will have decent memory controllers, the 333 certainly doesnt if you look at intels ddr setups.

doesnt surprise me you havent passed prime, you dont run a stable system, you just run as high as itll go and still pass 3dmark a few times :p

I have to have 100% stability or I get booted out of the middle of a game which is no good, so it must pass prime. So far prime has proven to be 110% correct when it says it isnt stable, its picked it up every single time, even when its only just been over the edge and I was only getting 1 crash after 3 hours of playing, prime picked it up. Lowered the speed, prime passed, not a single crash from then on.

I know the cpu is good for about 1810 so all the tests are done below that or itll be cpu causing the failure as much as the mem.

Wooo now...I didn't say I was not Prime stable. Just not Prime stable at xtreme high FSB and max timings. When I play games I do not run at 216Mhz....those are bench speeds. For any given CPU speed..say 2055hz at the moment as that is what I just benched 3DMark at with my 1700+....I am Prime stable at higher multi and lower FSB. But when you lower the multi and use aggressive settings and high FSB...that 2055Mhz is not Prime stable. Why?? I believe the ram cannot tolerate the stress induced..especially when you are running the agressive timings.

Very, very nice job my friend

Thats some great AMD bandwidth you're coaxing out of your system...and with some not really state of the art ram...truly impressive

Keep up the great work !

230 is too intense for AGP tearing, i tried changing the FSB in windows (through softKR7), but it dies when i try and close the program.
