Thanks for chiming in you all. This board is great and you all are very helpful, which is saying a lot since many are not.

Can someone comment on the molex adapter I ran across ^, or should I use a different adapter for the majority of psu's that come with a 4-pin and 8-pin power? I simply don't see the need in spending $100 extra on a PSU that has the connectors when I'm not even going to come close to using all that power when I can buy a $100 cheaper PSU and a $15 adapter.

Last question is, should I go with ecc 1066 vs 1333? I'm not sure the price difference is that drastic, but if it saves $100 might be worth it.

i posted a couple of PSU's under $100 that had 2 CPU connections just with 1 being a 4pin, or you would also probably be fine if you already have a PSU and used the molex one you posted.

Here's the adapter i was talking about

You've been a great help especially. I really appreciate it Blauhung.

Here is the final build list:
    http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Pu...umber=17220888

I ended up going with the OCZ you picked out and dropped the ram to 6x2GB Corsair 777 (better latency, but no HS). Wintec has a nice 1066 T-kit that is even cheaper with same latency and HS but it's not due back till Mar 1.

Thanks to those who helped answer my questions directly.

$2400 and done - bout 1k cheaper than my harpertown rig with more-faster ram, cpus, a non asus MB, and a case that will fit under my desk. Cheers.

The adapter Blauhung linked will work great, same ones I use.
1333 Ram would have been useless on those E5520's, as they don't support anything faster than DDR3-1066 (again, read my FAQ )
The OCZ PSU is a little overkill, but you definitely got the headroom to put a heavy GFX card in there later on, so that's a plus.
Stock coolers are, well, crap - let's just hope you aren't sensitive to noise

Stock coolers are crap. I installed dual true 120s on mine with scythe sflex fans. Keeps temps in the 50's under 100% load. Kinda overkill but they are quiet.
