...The only time I ever wanted to play 'Assault' was on UT2004, multi stage defence based multiplayer maps are almost always complete rubbish.

i gotta say i liked it a lot in the very first UT and the variant in bc2 is also nice. what bothers me about it, however, is that you'd think that 10 years down the road there would be something new...

it seems like nowadays they only take away stuff to make a game better. bc2 has no nade spamming and no prone diving like bf2 and that already makes it a more enjoyable game for me. there's even less bunny hopping.

Ok PULSAR attempted to download FH2 but had a few difficulties so here's a helping hand for you guys...

First download Parts 1 and 2 of v2.2 from Here. File links on right side mid-page.

Then you need the 2.25 patch (another 800MB; new maps and items) from any of the links in the first post here (no wait at Fileplanet FYI)

Just DL'd FH2 and it's awesome, basically BF1942 with pretty gfx and squads. They didn't screw up the game mechanics with loads of stupid addons like POE or try and turn it into some kind of Operation Flashpoint clone like Project Reality. It's just a shame that there aren't any servers I can spot with a ping below 150, it's playable but the lag makes it a lot less enjoyable.

Since BF2 1.5 I haven't seen any dolphin diving, because it doesn't work. I'm glad that the nade spamming is gone, but overall it's a significantly less good game. They also took away big maps and vehicles that were easy to drive, they don't seem to understand that armoured vehicles should just plain annihilate infantry.

Great! Actually it's much deeper than that as you'll see. At least it can be. Learn the artillery and mortar system (requires a spotter), seek out special kits like the flamethrower or munitions engie (to replenish your teams big guns) and try out all the various tanks etc (X for scoped aim, hold left control for free look, F changes ammo type (those controls work on aircraft and heavy guns like PaK-40 too)). And there are one or two populated US servers starting in the evenings such as WOLF. The ones during the day are all in Europe (mod team mainly German, I believe).

Apparently the Pacific theatre will be the next major release. Thats the rumor anyway. No ships in BF2 tho FH1 for BF1942 has naval combat too.

I also highly recommend Forgotten Hope 2. It is an excellent game. I play it all the time.

BF2 can have some issues with Windows 7 but nothing that can't be resolved, run x64 myself. Google BF2 + Win 7 if having issues. Though any PB bs should be able to be remedied with that PB updater I linked to. It downloads individual updates per-game. You choose from a drop down.

A lot of the Windows 7 issues are because the service isn't even installed properly and the PB updater wont help with that. You will need this:

There are also some problems with the service terminating, if that is the case go to the services panel [types 'services' into the search bar on the start menu] find any services named 'PnkbstrA' or 'PnkbstrB', click on them. On the 'General' pane make sure that 'Startup Type' is set to 'Automatic' and that under the 'Recovery' pane all three recovery options are set to 'Restart.'

Absolutely! Again you can find me almost every night on the populated U.S. server (usually only one which is one of the reasons I'm pimping this mod so hard--needs more players! Deserves more too.)

So in other words, unless you feel like playing with a 150 ping on a euro server you WILL be playing with me whether you like it or not!

PULSAR don't give up it will work. What disallowed it? Run the Punkbuster update as admin. Hell, just turn UAC OFF. We aren't noobs ffs.

edit: Just remembered I found advice to install 1.4 patch before 1.5. I can't tell you for sure that will fix your problems but it's one of the things I did just to be safe.

Ok there is a new FH2 US server that actually has people playing. 101st Airborne Clan server. Played there last night for the first time, dude said they had been down for 9 months and were now back.

Can find in in-game browser. Helps to turn on "populated" filter even though only like 30 servers total.

well i reinstalled BF2 , used to love it but havent played in probably a year. installed FH2 and i must say its a whole lot better than it was when it first came out. i see hours of FH2 in my future

Finally got it installed lets see what this long wait was all for.

EDIT: Getting some error when the game opens saying how I need to check my shortcut so I tried running the exe in the folder as admin and says I don't have privileges
