    WD 300GB vs 500GB platters

    Would the 500GB platters offer more performance than the 300GB on a 1TB harddrive ?

    yes the change was good for about 20-35MB/s and samsung offers better drives than wd right now

    When we are talking about HDD performance, using purpose must be stated (ex. system drive or storage drive) so you can easily determine the best bang for buck

    If you are refering to the OS/system drive WD is still the ruler and his 2TB Black HDD is truly piece of art (not because of the 500GB/plate but other more significant changes under the hood).
