Ci5 750 + MB?

I am looking for a MB and ram that will handle a mid range Oc nothing over 4ghz.

Have Ci5-750 2.667ghz

Not looking to spend much $120 US tops on the MB.

then what ever the memory is.

Sli/crossfire not needed but would be nice down the line.

Just want a good performance to price range.

i meant that the days of cheap mobo's are gone for some odd reason even tho they do less and less with every generation of cpu.

zsamz is dead on right.. basically noncrap P55 boards are 150+ i guess the cheapest P55 board id get is the MSI P55-GD65...

I would say the lowest for a decent board is gonna be $130-140 range. I bought a UD2 just to play with and didn't pay attention that it didn't have the mosfet heatsinks and blew it up in within the first week. needed a mobo and ended up spending $170 locally..another mistake. ended up with a p55m-UD4P. Great mobo, but I paid way toomuch. for the cost I could have gotten another x58 for less

Have been buying parts one at a time.
started with 24 inch wide acer.
then Pc power & cooling 750w/825 peak Psu.
logitech mx518 and g15 KB
and now the i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz

So its closed to being completed MB,Ram,Hard drive(s), and a DVD burner all that is left.

I have always read good things about Evga MBs. Only thing i dont like about it is no ide.

I have a lot of old ide drives i use for storage. Not a big deal just pain to move the data now.

I have the GA-P55 UD3R. It's a great board. I took it to 4GHz on the stock cooler with my 750, then heat started to worry me. I still need a better cooler but funds are somewhat limited at the mo.

A better choice would have been the GA-P55A UD3R because of the SATA 6Gb and USB 3.0 support, but the board I have received great reviews and the price was good (it was an open box/demo model).

Yeah, I noticed you always talk crap about them but it doesn't put me off because those are your personal experiences. Thousands of people who purchased my board are happy with it, and all the reviews from some very respectable hardware sites are excellent, so I wouldn't put too much stock in your words.

I have had several Gigabyte boards and they were fine, nothing wrong with them. I also like Asus a lot.

Will you ever need more then 4GB of RAM on a Mid Range PC. So the 2xDims on the Gigabyte H55M-S2H should be fine for your needs.

I still would like to have the option to add more later as i will not build new for at lest 3 years if not more. But will update Video card and add ram as needed.
