    New drives from WD

The 1.5 TB RE4 and a new SATA3 1 TB Caviar Black are in WD website.

I suppose these are on the 7200RPM 500GB platters. The 1TB Caviar Black has my attention, both because of the SATA 3 and because of the fact that I'm kind of short in cash at the moment and the RE4s are beyond my reach. SATA 3 is totally pointless of course, but it will help in the way of making sure the drive you order is really a 2x500GB platters, rather than the old 3x333 design. Looks like I'll grab 2 of those for a RAID-0.

By SATA3 you mean SATA 6.0gb/s? If so, whats the point if that drive will never even get close to the 300mbs read/write mark? Why bother improving the interface?
