    I need to start at the beginning and do a thorough evaluation of bclk with my CPU multi at 12x. I tried to jump straight to 180 manually setting stock voltages, and things are not working out. Other people seem to be fine with 1.2v on QPI, but perhaps I am not. Is the bclk governed by the vCore at all? I am a noob with this chipset and don't really know the ins and out yet. I will probably manually set the QPI frequency to just over 2x the ram for now to avoid any potential issues there.

    Edit: As for the Radeon, I was never one of those people that has to have the best gfx card. The price to performance ratio on any brand-new, high end card makes me cringe. I always aim for more middle of the road. Hell, my old 8800GT can run SC2 beta at 1920 res with medium settings. That said, if you think it is worth it, than maybe for you it is. I think it is a fairly personal choice.

    I tried the setting Dom posted on my board, and it seems stable after several hours of prime, websurfing, etc...

    I might try to tweak things to get more out of my RAM though...

    I'm having a little trouble when I go to higher DRAM/uncore frequency. Which voltages help this? I am fooling with QPI/DRAM voltage at the moment. vDIMM is set to 1.64 as per G.Skill spec.

    Rising Qpi/Dram voltage makes a big difference in ram clocks on this board!

    Hmm I seem to be stable in LinX but not in Prime or games. This is going to take some more work. I'm testing vCore = 1.18750 and QPI = 1.23125 right now, using 21x 181mhz with 2:10 RAM divider. vDIMM still set to 1.64.

    1.8750 vcore for that clock seems abit of a waste u will fry the cpu on stock cooling!

    I'm using a noctua U12P-SE2. I get about 71° under load with ambient temps somewhere in the mid-70's F (we don't use much A/C). I am honestly more of a water-cooling guy, and was expecting these to be lower. I have reseated etc... all that fun stuff, and these just seem to be the temps.

    Anyway, G.Skill recommends setting QPI voltage to something nuts like 1.5v to make the RAM operate at spec. That just doesn't sound right. Perhaps my QPI is below what it needs to be, though.

    Edit: I also noticed XMP specs 1N ram command rate, while the manufacturer's label specs 2N. I wonder if I'm getting some stability issues from using 1N.

    sorry that should read 1.1875

    i liked the old days of clocking my C2D. ram performance and cpu performance were basically independent variables when you're talking voltages and stability. this is so much more aggravating.

    Okay, I think I got it stable at last. I decided to just use the 2:8 RAM divider and crank the timings down.

    I will post screenshots once I'm done fooling around with the graphics cards. I'm having too much fun right now.

    Overclock:

    multi = 21x
    bclk = 181 mhz
    uclk = 2903 mhz
    RAM = 1451 mhz

    Voltages are:

    vCore = 1.1750v
    QPI/DRAM = 1.2000v
    vDIMM = 1.6000v

    Ram timings are 6-7-6-20-60-1T @ 1451 mhz.

    Thanks to xmisery for his posts here:

    http://www.overclock.net/intel-mothe...ml#post8440597

    I may try nudging the CPU voltage down some more, but for now I am happy with the results. Edit: Reducing voltage by even one increment is unstable in LinX.

    I switched a 70cfm fan in to help blow the air coming from my Noctua out at a higher rate, and my temps dropped a few C into the upper 60s (under load). I think my standard low cfm, quiet fans were fine with a triple rad pulling in fresh air as well, but not with my new air cooling setup on this rig.

    I havent had time to read this whole thread, WOW what a board. I have a p6t deluxe V2, i7 930 stops at 3.8 on that board. P6X58d runs the same set up 4.4 with just running Bclk up, no adjustment,
    no tricks straight out of the box fresh windows 7 and Bamm what a great board ASUS. one concern is not having a speed control on the noctua fixed fans. Trust me you will hear more from me. next concern

    Hey guys,

    I received my P6X58D Premium a couple of weeks ago. I would like to know how to capture a snapshot of the AI Tuner settings. Thanks!

    The easiest way is to use the Snipping tool feature of Windows7/Vista.

    If you have XP press the printscreen button on the keyboard, then open paint and paste/crop it.

    Thanks Buggalugs,

    I guess I need to install some software first. Which software do you take a snippet from? Also I notice your snippet comes with a scroll bar

    I have used Intel boards for over 8yrs, this is my first Asus board since my P4T533-C.

    Waaaaaay too much vCore! Lower that or the chip will end up dying!

    For those clocks you shouldn't need much more than 1.35v...

    bro20000 not sure how the 930 is. But with 920, setting the multiplier at x21 i achieve higher clock speeds with lower voltages then i would at x20. So you might be able to drop your voltage down allot
    I was running mine at 4.2 1.3 volt and

    here is another guy using your cpu at 4.2 at 1.3

    http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/791/prime.png

    and 4.4ghz @ 1.37v

    http://www2.picturepush.com/photo/a/...930-%25234.jpg

    course every cpu is different and no guarantee you will achieve that exact results but it gives you an idea

    edit kup beat me to it.

    Sandog, just get CPUz and a temp software like coretemp or realtemp. Then some kinda stress test like prime95. All free

    Everest is a good general program to have, its an all in one software but you can run memory benchmarks too and various other stuff. You can get the free trial version or a beta version.

    hey you guys, i was just wondering if anyone is getting "Overclock Failed..." message once in a while at Post? my system is stable. my voltage was at 1.175v so i thought i would increase it to 1.1825v thinking it was the voltage causing the message. it seems to have worked for a while but while the computer was rebooting today i decided to hold down the power button on the case and shut it down manually. when it came back up i got the message above. i just went back into the bios made sure everything was ok w/o changing anything and system is back up again stable. voltage is still at 1.1825v

    Oh i see what you mean now. But that wasnt me i havent posted any AI tuner settings. Its DOM7184.

    You can just copy/paste his template and change the values to your own. Maybe he can help you further with the scroll bar thing.

    Ya, i think some of you are running your voltage a little low. It can work fine when the machine is warm but can be a problem with a cold boot. No big deal just raise the voltage a little.
