    BFBC2 pc beta........your opinion?

I've still got 30minutes to wait for the beta due to fluctuating speeds.

Anyone else tried the beta yet? I'd like to know what others think of it.

    Thanks

    Voted NOT SURE.
Only played 1 decent game without lag and now i cant connect anymore, hopefully the issues are gone tomorrow and then i can give a better opinion.
But i think it will be very good, i liked the looks, sound and feel in the 20 minutes i played.

Yeah the master servers got overwhelmed. As of the past hour or so no one can play. EA/DICE is working on fixing the issue though.

Graphics were not that good and you had medium settings... no wonder.

I don't think the graphics are great, but they are good imo or at least better than I expected. I was running all high settings with a playable frame rate (will check next time the game actually works).

What were talking about with laser beams? It looks the same as in the videos.

Others have complained about mouse lag as well. This is supposed to be intentional since the guns have weight. I didn't really notice it though.

The server browser is giving a CTD. Supposedly you can use jion now, but it is a pretty crap option imo.

Yeah that CTD was the first thing i noticed, along with a loop problem when a map is loaded. At some point (now and then) the "load circle" craps out and spins like crazy and the game has to be terminated with task manager.

    And i still cant join

Ok, I got in some really solid gameplay today and got to check out some of the upgraded weapons and such. I really like this game so far. It seems like people aren't quite as nooby and the battle are quite excellent.

No idea why some are having issues playing this game. I have all high settings with the default AA and AF and at worst I got 75fps.

Without specifying detailed settings, any comments on performance are moot as far as I'm concerned (eg I hear so and so person online say such and such games runs "well" for them ; I later discover this is at 1024x768... )

I liked what I saw on the PS3 beta but not sure if I'm going to bother with this one on pc. As much as I liked 2 and 2142 in many ways they still feel betaish to me and I expect this to be no better.

I was laggy as hell for about an hour, but then I got connected to a good server. After that, I was very impressed!

I like the classes strengths and weaknesses. Being a medic with a LMG is great! After I unlocked the SAW I was laying waste to people. Assault rifles are good too. Unless you get a headshot with a sniper rifle it takes like 3 body shots to kill someone.

I had everything maxed on my 4870X2, and I thought it looked great. "Supposedly" some of the textures are not available on "max" in this beta, but the final game will have them . Kind of like Unreal Tournament 3 when they released the demo. You couldn't select "Very High" or whatever.

    Sound is awesome!

We will see where this goes, but once they sort out the big issues I think this game has true potential.

1680x1050 all high with whatever the default AA and AF is (I think 2/4).

    Core i7 920@ stock
    4870x2 @800/1000
    6gb mem.

Nothing too spectacular. I easily average 85 fps around the city and 100fps on the hill top.

Not too impressed even tho I know it's a beta I was expecting a bit more.
Felt like I was playing a badly running Xbox game with a mouse. 2560x1600
high settings...no go, medium setting..meh still a bit sticky. Guns are missing
quite a bit of balls and the lack of prone makes sniping kinda frustrating.
I hope they remedy even some of these things for the final version.

I like it so far. A few things need to be fixed like many people have said, but other than that seems to be a great game so far.

I am playing on high right now. I dont know if my 9800 can take it any farther.

Wow, the destructible environments thing is pretty cool.
I was playing assault and running from a tank so I ducked into a building. At this point the tank blew up the exact wall I was hiding behind. I just turned around and went... "oh.... crap". Very fun

For the graphics I would say the textures aren't too great, but all of the smoke and explosions look awesome.

i love the game as far as gameplay goes, but it runs like crap on my rig. i believe i have found the reason for this. on some systems only one processor core will be utilized.

no matter what resolution or detail level, i always have around 25-35 fps when the battle heats up. my taskmanager tells me that bfbcgame.exe uses 30-50% cpu power, so not only is one of my cores ignored, but the other one isn't even fully loaded. that would usually mean that the video card is the limiting factor, but my gtx 280 is fast enough. a friend of mine has 70-80% load on his dual-core and the game is super-smooth for him, so it must be a bug in bc2.

another funny thing is that when i'm on an empty server, i get 50-60fps at 1680x1050 and everything maxed but the more players join the game the lower my fps drop. with 32 players i average 25fps at 1024x768 and lowest detail levels.

The more players (and their "objects"/"actions") the higher the cpu
    usage.

Runs smooth as a butter with i7 and 5870.
The gfx is... well, very good. But not excellent.
    The sound isn't bad.
I'm really not a big fan of their new running / moving on foot system, feels so damn slow and inconvenient, gotta get used to it I guess.
    So far so good!

    Edit: no prone = GAH!
