Have this case on my shortlist however the 5870 i have (Sapphire Vapor X) has the 2x pcie power sockets on the back of the board, not on the side as the reference design. its looking like this will be a very tight fit if it will fit at all.

Anyone here have a video card same length as a 5870 or longer with the PCIE connector(s) on the rear of the PCB and able to take pics ?

I don't think any of the 5970 designs fit in this case without somehow removing the top 2 hard drives bays.

Some more pics. First is rear side cable management. Far from perfect, but much easier to do a good job than with my original 690 esp with the cable tie attachments on the back side. Will be way easier to put on the back panel. Don't have any front or top panel connectors installed yet.

Next are front and back shots of the top panel. Looks tough to remove/mod the SATA drive adapter.

Next is a shot of my front where I have replaced the stock 140mm with a green 120. Holding up stock 140 to show size and orientation. It mounts higher up than the 120 in addition to simply being bigger.

Last is another shot of the bottom area near for the guy wondering about max PSU length. My TX750 is 6.3" and you have about another inch max before you get to the rad mounting area.

Have more but none very interesting/helpful. Probably will be a few weeks before I really finish this, too...

no need to mod the bottom. Just remove the bottom part of the HD section.

Yes correct. You lose 4 HD bays, but it will fit without any modding, so long as you have a normal sized PS.

By the way folks the original CM 690 side panel fits the II Advanced (I have one) and is presently only $10--$15 off. Perhaps this is preparing for the new one to come out. But at $10 it's a steal. Fan is pretty weak though in terms of CFM.

I just received/built a computer today for a client using this case, i dunno what to think of it really.

1st. Issue was getting the bloody side panels off! This took 10-15 minute alone, it was like they where super glued, i had to actually pry the back tray one off with a screw driver.
2nd. Issue, they only supplied one pack of rubber pins for the side panel fan, seriously, god damn cheap skates.
3rd. Issue, again, thumb screws for the PCI slots, these required a screw driver.
4th. Issue, that would be with the motherboard screws onto the tray, 3 of these just span and never tightened.
5th. Issue was getting the side panels on, damn thats fiddly.

Overall it's a nice looking case, which is well ventilated and very easy to look well presented (cable wise).
But i can't help but think it's a bit cheap the feel of it, i think the £90 here in the UK for it is a bit over priced, maximum £70 would be more fitting.

Hmm no such issues, other than needing a screwdriver to remove the thumb screws but I don't consider that such a big deal. Better than having regular screws. And don't even get me started on the joke that was the original tool-less design.

And the side panels can take a bit of work to get on but not because it's damn near impossible to line up/get all the grooves in and is all flimsy, again like the original. They feel sturdy as a quality case should.

Over the previous model the CM 690 II has some major improvements. The major niggles with the case are the 2 holes for 140 mm holes in the right side panel and the 80 mm hole in the left one. The holes in the right side panel are a nightmare for window modding because the top edge of the plexiglass cannot be affixed to the panel (I modded 3 such cases). A single 140 mm hole was enough on the right side panel and the 80 mm hole in the left side panel is useless.
