Simple Question, can I run an ATI/AMD card such as a 5870 with a dedicated Nvidia card as physx, or is it not cross-compatible. I've heard yes' and no's from everywhere, So I wouldn't mind a clear answer from some of the big boys on this forum

Yes, you can.
But you need to find the Nvidia hacked driver to make it run.
This thread might be outdated, but has some info.

Depends on the game and it's implementation of PhysX. In Batman:AA, for example, the answer is hell yes.

Thanks heaps fellas just picked up a sapphire 5870 on ebay for 400 AU and going out to get a gtx 240 for physX
use the second link in Piotrsama post. I also used that site when I set mine up a few weeks ago. its the latest hacked driver and you dont have to do all the restart/safe mode bs. plus it is 32 and 64 bit in the same package.
worth it/make a difference? thats dependent on the person implementing it. not many games use it, but it is damn sexy in the ones that do.
I also picked up the 240, works well. currently $65 at newegg with crappy rebate. MSI 1gb but only 128 bit.
