    Intel Xeon Lynnfield 1156 overclocking?

Trying to find any OC results with Intel Xeon Lynnfield 1156 sockets.

I am not finding much results

Both seem like good choices compared to Intel Core i5-750 1156 or Intel Core i7-860 1156

There are two great priced Xeon Options

    Intel Xeon X3430 Lynnfield 2.4GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Server Processor $209

    &

    Intel Xeon X3440 Lynnfield 2.53GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Server Processor $239

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819117225

Searching for overclocking info on how well these xeon overclock compared to Intel Core i5-750 1156 or Intel Core i7-860 1156

The Xeon's have a much higher max temp rating from intel
    "Max operating temperature 89.6"

VS.. the i5 or i7 @ Max operating temperature of 72.7c

Also will the xeons run in any standard p55 board that runs the i5 or i7 chips? Or will a special 'server' board need to be purchased?

They will work in any 1156 board and will clock as well as any desktop version Keep in mind that those have lower multipliers though, and no turbo. Turbo sometimes can get you a free multiplier too so it *can* be detrimental.

It's quite obvious from that temperature difference but no need for any special server boards, a solid workstation board like Asus P7P55 WS Supercomputer et al should do the job.

I think even extreme boards from Gigabyte, Asus et al should do the job but the current Intel made boards are not recommended to try...

Ryzen 9 on the test bench... Sometimes older generation/tech as well.
