Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

    Onoff312:
The main reason for flashing the bios was to see whether it could be done, but the advantage of a gtx 285 bios is that the core can go slightly higher without the shader going higher and the shader is the real bottleneck

So would it be possible to run your 280 with a 285 in SLi now that you've flashed it with a 285 BIOS??

should i show both 280 and 285 gpuz shots (note 285 needs to be UNDERCLOCKED as it runs on lower voltage)

also in nibitor and rivatuner soft voltage mods do NOT work

Spose ill have to flash it back to a 285

    bioses used:

original zotac gtx 280 amp! bios but with extra voltage and clocks

original zotac gtx 285 bios but underclocked for stability

Ill try sli with palit 2gb gtx 285's when i get them

i have not benched 285 because i have not done the neccesary volt mods to get it to a speed that could compete with the 280

    and i lost 3dmark vantage + 06 when i installed raid

be back in a bit with screenies

no ur not being stupid, i tried to use the gtx280 bios and change the subsystem id, device id and board id so it thinks it a gtx 285, then it would have been the same bios version but it didnt work as a gtx 280 so i had to use an actual gtx 285 bios

no way to detect die size via software, so if gtx 285 -> 55 nm, gtx 280 -> 65 nm

So where do you think the info is coming from then when it is read?

He flashed the bios, software loaded and then gpu-z reads it.......

That is why i was saying it is classic that it showed a different die size on the gpu-z report, wow.

I know you made it and i'm glad you made it. It is a nice app indeed. I'm just curious of why it then showed a die shrinkage after he flashed the bios, since that even you are saying it can't read the die size in gpu-z. Someone could do a bit of damage like that buying say a 280 and flashing it and it then show as a 285 in gpu-z.
