    *King of the hill* A-Data XPC Plus DDR3 2200 CL8 v2.0 take a walk to DDR3 2680 CL8

    A-DATA XPG Plus DDR3 2200 CL8 2.0

We all now how Elpida Hyper MNH-E IC's are, and we all know the importance of binning when it comes to special high-end kits. And of course, since September, we have seen some tests with this kit, and the results were amazing in each test. Well, I have these kits from August, but I really did not have time to really put them to work untill now. Sure, I have benched with them I have used them in all of my P55 tests and reviews, but I was too busy with tests and reviews for all the technologies we have had this autumn so I did not have time to test them. A while ago a colleague of mine hit some very interesting clocks with another Hyper based kit, and then I remembered and I said to myself - "Hey, this is one killer hyper kit, I should make some time to really push it". So I took a small break from HWBot Country CUP, HD5xxx benching and my P55 round-up, and I was on to find out what this kit is really all about. And boy, oh boy , was I in for a surprise...

    Specs

    • AX3U2200PB2G8-DP2
    • 240Pin Unbuffered-DIMM Non-ECC
    • DDR3 2200
    • 8-8-8-24
    • 1.55-1.65v
    • 2 x 2GB

    Features

    • 2 oz PCB
    • 8 layer PCB
    • Thermal Conductive Technology
    • Highly Binned Elpida Hyper IC's
    • Lifetime limited warranty
    • 280 USD MSRP

    Testbed

    • Intel Core i7 870
    • Gigabyte P55-UD6 F6 BIOS
    • Noctua NH-U12P / SS
    • GeForce 4 MX440 PCI
    • OCZ EliteXtream 1000W
    • WD5000AAKS
    • HSPC Top Deck Station
    • 25 oC Temp ambient
    • 1 x 120mm Cooler Master fan for DDR cooling

With the 18x Uncore multi used on Lynnfield i870/i860 CPU's, the memory is no longer Uncore limited like it was on X58 platforms, therefor the CPU cooling does not play such an important part like it did in TriChannel kit testing. However, after some air-runs, I had the SS mounted for some other tests anyway, so I left the rig like it was, with SS, even if the impact on memory overclocking is not significant on P55.

    RESULTS

    DDR3-1800 @ 6-6-6-18 1T @ 1.75v

    DDR3-1908 @ 6-7-6-18 1T @ 1.75v

    DDR3-2100 @ 7-7-7-21 1T @ 1.75v

    DDR3-2220 @ 7-8-7-21 1T @ 1.75v

    DDR3-2304 @ 8-8-8-24 1T @ 1.75v

    DDR3-2400 @ 8-9-8-24 1T @ 1.75v

    DDR3 2682 8-9-8-24 1T @ 1.95v

My review is also published on our site if anyone is interested - King Of The Hill - A-Data XPG Plus DDR3 2200 CL8 .

Sorry bro, when I tried to take the HS off, it felt like glued there and I don't want to be left with a very expensive key-chain if I pull the HS too much

Im wondering if there is a trend from very high end hyper & PCB, bc. I do not fully trust binning is what its all about, I think PCB has huge impact...

Well PCB allways has it's share of importance, and sometimes yes, it can make the difference.

Yes I believe high Oz copper really helps lower resistance and more pwr friendly , I am digging on these teardrop shaped heat sinks nicely tightly packed ....

    Exellent ! Monstru 2682 Mhz

Now where is that triple channel kit !

The only real downside is the heatspreader, at least for me... 38mm fans + a tower heatsink + tall RAM heatsinks + x58 classified = impossible
Doesn't take away the fact that the review is very well done, though. Thanks!

Thx guys, I hope I will have time later to really put up something interesting, with some more fierce volts. Now the ladies just dried up, so I am back to my P55 LN2 round-up.
