    Unhappy XFX 4850 Graphics card

I have a XFX 4850 Graphics card which I purchased for its black PCB and to match other components and colour scheme of my case. I also purchased the EK 4850 Nickel plated waterblock for this card and was fitting all my watercooling today but found the block doesn't fit. The RAM chips are in different positions and there is a capacitor in the way too.
I just wanted to ask if anyone else has has this problems and for some advice round it. I am a bit p@ssed off to say the least as these were quite expensive.

You should have checked to buy the good block for the card. Its not a reference design.

Con you link your card and block ?

Send the block back? Buy a new one that you know fits

Your card really seems to be a reference design ...

Do you know if this holds true for the shortened PCB on the XFX 4890 as well? Cause I'm about ready to go mill a block for myself but I dont want to do it and find out it cant actually fit.

The XFX 4850 is not the AMD/ATI reference design. I know because I have one, and been battling for ages to find a block that fits it.
Only option for that card is the legacy Koolance Vid 205 (Very restrictive though), and the Swiftech MCW60 (You will have to buy ram sinks, and mosfet sinks for this)

Ill post pic of both for you...

    Koolance VID-205

    Swiftech MCW60

The nice thing about the swiftech block, is that you can reuse it when you upgrade your card. You usually can't with waterblocks. Not to mention those waterblocks are quite hard to sell, and if you manage to sell, it's usually _WAY_ below the new price. Selling the card with the block still on is an option, but that means it's quite hard to find a buyer as well, as not many people watercool their PCs.
